EDUCATION

I have been involved in teaching for many years. To date this has been mainly with

postgraduates. As a member of the SAC for Otolaryngology when a registrar I was

involved in the formulation of a educational programme to be used from Year 1 to

Year 6 in assessing clinical competencies. I continued this as a consultant member of

the SAC.

From 2005 to 2008 I established and edited ‘The Otorhinolaryngologist’. This was a

journal specifically for post graduate education in otolaryngology. I resigned in 2008

due to other commitments but I have continued as a member of the editorial board.

I have since been involved in the education of undergraduates within the hospital. I

am also in the process of establishing a website with free access for medical students

to learn from teaching videos.

I teach on several national courses to GPs, Registrars and ENT Consultants. I also

teach on the Special Senses Block for Leicester Medical Students.

I have provided approximately seven hundred reports specifically relating to noise

induced hearing loss. These have been requested by those representing the claimant in

the main, but each report has been prepared in the manner of a single expert witness

on behalf of the court. In addition I prepare between 5 and 20 reports a year which are

related to facial trauma etc including rhinoplasty issues.
