He joined Bombay University in March 1972 and taught various geography papers upto August 1982. In continuity, he joined Aligarh Muslim University and is serving at the University ever since. 6. Brief Profile :

Professor Salahuddin Qureshi born at Aligarh in 1949, has graduated and post graduated from Aligarh Muslim University. He also completed his doctoral research at Aligarh Muslim University. Professor Salahuddin Qureshi has a teaching and research experience of over 40 years at the University level. He joined Bombay University in March 1972 and taught various geography papers upto August 1982. In continuity, he joined Aligarh Muslim University and is serving at the University ever since. Dr. Salahuddin Qureshi got associated with King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), Riyadh as a Research Scientist from 1990-1993 on an environmental project, “Desertification Atlas of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia”. He has special research

interests in the fields of Global Warming and Arid Zone Environments. His published works are centered on the Problems of Indian Agriculture and Socio-Economic Disparities. He has identified the Geopolitics of Globalization as a major cause of yawning inequalities in the developing countries with the emphasis on India’s Growing Regional Imbalances. The geographical perspective of Core-Periphery Differential in the Northern and North Eastern States has been traced to their historical isolation and marginalization vis-à-vis centrally advantageous states like Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Haryana in the wake of opportunities of free economy and foreign direct investment.

He has organized a number of Conferences and Refresher Courses in Geography for the college and young University teachers. He is a member of the International Geographical Union’s Commission on Desertification. He is life member of the National Association of Geographers, India and has been its Vice-President. He is a member of UGC’s Project Evaluation Committee. He has keen interest in School Education and has served as the Manager and Coordinator of various University Maintained Schools.
