5 ERC Starting Grants are awarded by the European Research Council. Selection of excellent ideas that have not happened yet and funding of the scientists that are dreaming them up is based on scientific excellence. Researchers of any nationality with 2-7 years of experience since

completion of PhD having a track record showing great scientific promise are eligible. In case of the respective call ERC-2018-STG a large

number of 3170 proposals had been submitted in total, of which 403 (or 12.7%) have been selected for funding based on written proposal and personal interview. See: erc.europa.eu

6 Marie Curie Career Integration Grants are granted by the European Commission and are intended to improve considerably the prospects for

the permanent integration of researchers who are offered a stable research post in Europe after a mobility period in a country different from the country where the researcher has been active during the past years, and are thereby attracting and retaining the best talents in Europe. In

case of the respective call FP7-PEOPLE-2012-CIG, a score of 90/100 has been achieved, lifting the proposal among the top-200 out of 912

submitted proposals. See: ec.europa.eu/research/mariecurieactions
