School Day• Arrival

– Drop off 8:30 – 9:00– In seats by 9:00– If tardy, parent sign-in to school

• Dismissal– School done at 3:30– Dismissal 3:40– 4:00– Parent Pick-up 3:35 (must provide note in the AM)

• Early Dismissal– Provide note in the AM

5 Day Schedule Rotation

• Days are 1-5 • Allows equal time to all special classes when

missing days of school• Places to find out the correct day:– Classroom newsletters– Homework charts– Calendar that was sent home– CVPS website under “Links”

Attendance• Good attendance promotes success!• If absent:

1. You must call or email Mrs. Sekelik (412-429-7017 or dsekelik@cvsd.net) on the morning of absence.2. Provide an excuse the day your child returns:

• Student’s first and last name• Parent’s first and last name• Teacher’s name and Room Number• Reason for absence

Medications and the School Nurse

• Any medication administered during the school day requires a completed medical form

• Medications are not to be transported by student

• All medicines (including cough drops, etc.) fall under this rule

School Resource Officer (SRO)• Partnership between CV

School District and the Scott and Collier Police Departments

• Trained through NASRO (National Association of School Resource Officers)– Model Agency Designation

• Officer Oberle• Participates in educating

students on safety related topics such as fire, bus and bike safety and Charlie Check First

Breakfast

• Offered daily 8:30 – 9:00

• Optional program and is an additional cost

• Go to cafeteria directly from the bus

Birthday Treats

• You may send in a simple snack or special item like a pencil, sticker, etc. for your birthday– If you send a snack please make sure it is nut free.

• Birthday Invitations: May not be passed out in school, unless you are inviting the entire class.

Holiday Party Treats

• PTG volunteers will provide all holiday party treats.– Students are no longer permitted to pass out

individual treats and/or treat bags.

Math Facts• Students need to add and subtract basic facts to 20

quickly without using their fingers.– The goal is that students complete a fact within 3-4

seconds mentally (both addition and subtraction).• This equates to between 15-20 facts correct per minute.

– Facts would include adding and subtracting digits up to 12 with an answer up to 20 (We would recommend up to 24).

– This goal should be met by the end of the first semester.
