Writing CurriculumThree genres of writing will be the focus for first grade.*Narrative*Informative (facts/how-to)*Persuasive (opinion)
Phonetic spelling is expected, but any tested spelling patterns should be spelled correctly in context.
Students will learn how to go through each step of the writing process from prewriting to publishing.
Practice and reinforce capitalization and punctuation rules.
Homework will be sent home on Mondays and should be completed and returned on Friday mornings.
Homework should take an average of 30 minutes a night in addition to 20 minutes of reading a night.
This year, we want the students to practice math at home as much as they practice reading.
All homework is a direct
reinforcement or continuation of class
work.
