• 1984, launching of the National & International campaign for safeguarding of the city.

• 1984-1986, establishment of technical unit for the preservation of the Historic cities of Sana’a and Shibam.

• 1990, Reunification of Yemen, establishment of GOPHCY.

• In 1984 nominated on the List of World Heritage.

Historic City of Zabid• Famous as the city of science

& scientists in the Islamic history.

• The first Islamic capital of Yemen from the 7th century AD.

• In 1993, nominated on the List of World Heritage.

• In 2000, it has been listed as a World Heritage in Danger.
