February.28.2015 Cultural Day is not a concept unique to the International School of Choueifat - Dubai, but our school definitely put its own spin on an event that highlights the prevalent diversity that resides within our student body. Dubai’s multiculturalism and the very essence of a social melting pot was replicated for an entire day on Saturday, February, 28, 2015. Although it was done on a “small” scale, the patriotism and energy exuded by over 2500 students, staff members, and visitors alike saturated the school grounds. While some countries enticed the guests with mouth-watering aromas emanating from their stalls, others captivated the audience with infectious enthusiasm during their performances. From aesthetic decorations to gorgeous dances, every country put their best foot forward leaving us with our own mini Global Village designed for students, by students. That being said, if the students’ arduously prepared and flawlessly executed performances are not enough to retain their spectators, each country’s unique cuisine was sure to have all heads spinning with their fragrant odors and vibrant colors. ISC Dubai’s Cultural Day brought various nations together under a single roof through everyone’s innate love for food, with dishes ranging from Iranian kebab and Australian Vegemite, to Filipino gulaman and Lebanese manakeesh. This event was a manifestation of our school’s unity despite diversity, which breathes an air of tolerance that is strengthened by a sense of one’s own national pride– a societal aspect so central to a city like Dubai. All in all, we are all so proud of ISC-Dubai’s Cultural Day 2015. Well done, everyone! CULTURAL DAY PROUD OF OUR DIVERSITY
