• 2,000,000 images, plus photography books and apparatus.

Collection emphases: images demonstrating the social impact of photography or documenting the development of photography as an aesthetic medium.

• Socially important images such as 5,000 photographs of child labor made by lewis hine during 1908-1930.

• Aesthetically important images by such notables as Ansel Adams, robert Fichter, ralph Gibson, Mildred Grossman, lotte Jacobi, and Jaromir Stephany.

• The Baltimore Sun archive not only holds the hardcopy of the newspaper from 1837 to 1968, but also includes ledgers, papers, and several hundred thousand photographs from the 1920s to the 1970s.
