iii. HVAC CALCULATION METHOD

Supplied air flow rate for a space is determined by the zone load requirements, any possible makeupair needs due to direct exhaust and pressurization requirements. Outdoor air quantity of spacesis determined as per applicable standard to maintain acceptable indoor air quality in the space.

The software programs used for load calculation are Carrier E20-II / HAP V.4.40 & Carrier E20-II / Block Load V.3.05.

To find the Air Flow required for ventilation:

  Heat Load = Q X Cp X  X  T

  699,681 = Q X 1.007 X 1.1 X 5

  Q1 = 126,330 l/s (Based on waste heat removal basis)

= 454788 m3/hr 

  Q2  = ACH X Volume (Based on air change method)

= 12 X ((1295 X 22)+(2 X 290 X10.1))

= 412176 m3/hr

To maintain ( P = 25 Pa) inside CTG building we need air flow = 13415 m3 /hr

Total air flow required for ventilation = 457884 + 13415

= 468,292 m3 /hr

 476,000 m3/hr

Distribution of fans shall be as follows:

- Heat dissipation in generator building = 130,000 W- Heat dissipation from GT building = 514,000 W

  Percentage of heat in generator building = 130 / (514 +130) = 20%

Therefore, 20% of the required air will be supplied to generator areas and 80% to turbine area.

Area blocked by rafters (AR) = LR x WR x N

where, LR = Length of the rafter blocking exhaust air flow i.e nothing but throat width (W)

WR = Rafter width (0.229 m)

N = No. of rafters (17 nos.)

  A = AAV - AR 

= (L x W - LR x WR x N)

74.0 = (84.0 x W – W x 0.229 x 17)

  W = 74.0 / 80.11

= 0.924 m

  Throat size for roof vent = 950 mm
