More power. More speed.More productivity.
Introducing the HiSpeed NX/i multi-slice
helical CT: the next step in the GE Continuum.
Evolving from GE’s extraordinary HiSpeed
Series, this next-generation CT scanner offers the
advantages of multi-slice technology for more
power. And greater speed.
Designed to meet the increasing demands
placed on today’s radiology departments, the
HiSpeed NX/i not only provides superior diag-
nostic information: it also increases departmental
productivity, with greater patient throughput than
conventional single-slice CT systems. Here’s how:
• Faster scan and reconstruction time: Multi-slice
capability, combined with faster (0.7 sec)
rotation speed.
• Thinner slices: The thinner the slice, the higher
the resolution – resulting in superior image
quality, and greater diagnostic confidence.
HiSpeed NX/i lets you acquire two thin slices
simultaneously in the same time it takes for a
conventional single-slice scanner. It’s the best of
both worlds: high resolution thin slice imaging
– without any compromise in Z-axis coverage.
• Higher Productivity: Up to three times faster
than conventional single-slice scanners.
• A system designed for upgradeability: Puts the
future within easy reach.
• HiLight™ image quality: So superior that clinical
confidence need never be compromised.
• Automated, protocol-driven scanning: So
flexible, your imagination is its only limit.
• Patient-conscious design: Makes the examination
faster, easier and less dose-intensive.

ICE TECHNOLOGY
Productivity through smart automationOur unique user interface and sophisticated
post-processing capabilities help you do more
in the same amount of time by eliminating
time-intensive steps and extensive manual
interaction. Since imaging tasks can be
automatically pre-programmed, radiologists
receive films sooner, and technologists spend
more time focusing on patient care.
Upgradeable performanceHiSpeed NX/i gives you a platform to build
applications. The number of CT procedures
continues to grow, proving CT to be one of the
most cost-effective tools for complex diagnostic
situations. Because the HiSpeed NX/i is
upgradeable, enhancement tools can be added as
your clinical needs evolve. You select the features
and options that help you respond to new
performance demands in the dynamic healthcare
environment – including generator and tube
size upgrades.
In helical mode, HiSpeed NX/i acquires two interweaving helices simultaneously.
Designed for Six SigmaLeadership products are the result of skillful
design. The HiSpeed NX/i is proof.
Through GE’s Six Sigma quality initiative, we
worked with an innovative team of technologists,
radiologists and GE personnel to design the
HiSpeed NX/i, creating an exceptional system that
reflects users’ criteria. The result is a long-term
solution that addresses your challenges, economic
environment and clinical needs. The result?
Thinner slices. Faster scan time. Better images.
Incorporating the HiLight detector, the
HiSpeed NX/i delivers outstanding image
quality, superior diagnostic confidence and
extraordinary dose efficiency. You get:
• Thinner slices for improved MPR/3D image
quality.
• Faster scan time to assure appropriate contrast
enhancement for early arterial, late arterial,
and venus phases of tri-phase organ studies.
• Better S/N image quality with lower mAs.

How fast is fast?Single-slice helical scanners are fast when
utilizing extended and sub-second scanning. But
as you increase pitch, you sacrifice image quality.
With HiSpeed NX/i, this compromise is no
longer necessary. In helical scan mode, two
interweaving helices are created. Making optimum
use of this 2x increase in data is key.
HiSpeed NX/i’s optimum image quality
modes are at 1.5:1 pitch, then again at 3:1.
Reconstruction algorithms play a key role in the
image quality and scanner performance found
on multi-slice CT systems. And GE’s experience
in multi-slice technology allows us to bring
the same, trusted diagnostic capabilities to
HiSpeed NX/i.

Image QualityHiSpeed NX/i’s technology provides the
kind of image quality radiologists require to make
an accurate, informed diagnosis:
• 50cm scan field of view (SFOV) enables you
to see as much of the patient as possible on
the image for more diagnostic information.
Especially useful for locating external
oncology markers.
• Short-geometry gantry requires less technique
to achieve excellent image quality. Practice
more aggressive protocols.
• Iterative Bone Option maximizes neuro image
quality by reducing streak artifacts that can
occur at the bone/brain interface.
• Advanced Artifact Reduction, GE’s proprietary
reconstruction algorithm, reduces image noise
for unsurpassed image presentation.
With HiSpeed NX/i, best image quality is found at 1.5:1 or 3:1 pitch.

The state-of-the-art interface of the HiSpeed
NX/i provides a unique combination of
sophisticated features and user-friendly access for
intuitive, interactive scanning.
• Entirely protocol-driven, with easy-to-read
icons and color cues. Ready to scan with a click
of the mouse.
• Flexible editing tools tailor exam to patient.
Proactively programming the system before
the patient arrives saves valuable time.
• True multi-tasking environment, with
automated real-time image processing,
redefines “simultaneous.”
• Protocol Wizard lets you adjust one parameter,
with the system then intuitively adjusting all
others affected by the change.
• Prospective Multiple Reconstruction eliminates
the need to retroactively reconstruct images
in different algorithms. Prospectively
reconstructing both bone and soft tissue detail
exams saves operator time and data entry.
• Automated multi-filming permits the process of
filming multiple window/level and multiple
algorithms, reducing time required for patient
setup and filming.

Future Options
Reduced noise. Better images.
Achieve superb diagnostic results, even in the
most challenging studies. GE’s patented method
of continuous digital data transmissions controls
image noise. This technology lowers patient dose
while maintaining image quality.
GE’s helical algorithms are optimized to match
helical pitch to any clinical situation, resulting in
an optimal balance of slice profile to image noise.
Add unsurpassed tube performance, and you
have uncompromised helical coverage and
optimal image quality.
Plus, GE’s proprietary system technology –
SmartTools™ and SmartmA™ – contribute to
superior system performance.
SmartTools permits multiple prospective
reconstructions for each exam – up to three per
scan – and two or more film protocols. Operators
can use AutoArchive to automatically archive
images, and AutoTransfer to automatically
transfer images to network nodes.
SmartmA enables the scanner to automatically
adjust the mA within a scan series. This reduces
patient dose, scan time and unnecessary heat
load to the x-ray tube. All while simultaneously
delivering consistent image quality throughout
the entire exam.
