Course Descriptions (Blended Learning)
For the 2018-2019 training year, we are offering the Blended Learning option for the SFA/AED Challenge/CSS Reviews for both the
Inpatient and Outpatient programs.
Blended Learning – is defined as an instructional design combining digital media (Web-based Learning/Training) with traditional (Instructor-led)
classroom methods. The web-based classes will be used to provide the Theory/Didactic Training, and the Instructor-led classes will provide Skills Review.
Completion of web-based classes are a prerequisite for registration and attendance of Instructor-led classes.
- Web-based Training - The web-based training model used in our courses include narrated information, animated character and visuals, instructional videos,
knowledge check quizzes, and interactive Learning Activities (games). Narration on each page/slide is timed and in sync with navigation tools, meaning participants
are unable to navigate forward until the end of page/slide narration. Each course includes a test as the primary assessment tool. Participants have unlimited
attempts to achieve a passing score of 80% for successful course completion.
SABA generated email notification, typically 30 days before CPPR/CSS recertification date, will be extended to 60 days before recertification date to allow adequate
time to complete Web-based and Instructor-led instruction for those participants choosing or assigned to the Blended Learning option.
- Instructor-led Training – The focus for the CPR and CSS classes is the review, practice, and demonstrated competency of all skills needed to meet course objectives.
In addition, time is allowed to answer participants’ questions specific to course content and the application of skills and strategies in the workplace.
