    CSU Chancellor TimothyWhite Visits CSUB onInnovations in the LearningEnvironmentTourWewerehonored tohostCSUChancellor Timothy WhiteThursday evening and all dayFriday on his second visit to

    CSUB. The Chancellor attended the PresidentsAssociates Dinner and met students in ourStudentResearchScholarsprogram,theirfacultymentors, and the donors who support theirresearch.HemetseparatelyFridaywithgroupsofstaff,faculty,andstudents;answeredquestionsinacampusopen forum;visitedanenvironmentalengineeringcourse;touredtheFabLab;attendeda student presentation in the CSU StudentResearchCompetitiontakingplaceatCSUB;andheld a press conference. Chancellor Whiteremarked on the studentcenteredness of ourquartertosemester transition and our facultysdecision to transform our General Educationcurriculumtoprepareourstudentsforthefuture.We thank the Chancellor for his time andattention to each campus and the communitieseachserves.CSUBHostsCSUStudentResearchCompetitionInadditiontowelcomingChancellorWhiteforacampusvisit,wealsohostedthe30thAnnualCSUStudent Research Competition on campusThursdayandFriday.Thecompetitionrecognizesoutstanding undergraduate and graduateresearchinalldisciplinessystemwide.Studentswere judged on oral presentation and writtenabstracts by jurists from corporations, collegesanduniversities,andfoundations.

    memberCSUBoardofTrustees.JohnisthefirstAlumni Trustee from Bakersfield and the firstTrustee from Bakersfield since MarthaFallgatters 1987 appointment by thenGovernorDukemejian.JohnwillserveatwoyearnonsalariedtermbeginningJuly1,2016.Hewaselected by the CSU Alumni Council through ahighlycompetitiveprocess.Hewillbethevoiceofalumni throughout thesystemandrepresenttheir interests. JohnhasservedasamemberoftheCSUBAlumniAssociationBoard,presidentofthe board, a member of the CSUB FoundationBoard,andamemberoftheCSUAlumniCouncil.He was inducted into the CSUB Alumni Hall ofFamein2014forhisdedicationtotheUniversity,theCSUsystem,andthestudentsofKernCounty.IamconfidentJohnwillbeavaluedmemberofthe CSU Board of Trustees. In addition, Robyn Musick, aNursing major, was elected to the Alpha ChiNational Council and Dr. Jacquelyn Kegley,CSUBsponsorfortheCaliforniaIotachapter,waselectedVicePresidentofRegionVII.

    CampusBeautificationAwardCongratulations to our most recent CampusBeautification Award winners. The CSUBWrestlingTeamwonforFebruary,2016fortheiradoptedarea,theJ.AntoninoSportsCenter.TheGeneralAccountingTeamwonfortheiradoptedarea, AdministrationWest.
