If a word does not match the dictionary, a window pops up showing possibilities.
You can click on the suggested spelling to choose a replacement and then click on the [Change] button at the right.
The word is replaced by the spelling you selected and Word continues to check the rest of the document.

Of course, if you meant to key the word in question and think it is OK, then you can click on the [Ignore] button on the right to accept the word as you keyed it.
