Dr. Chen is the Treasurer of the California Society of

Periodontists. Dr. Chen is currently in private practice in the Sacramento valley and serves as a clinical instructor at the Mare Island Veteran’s Administration.

Risk Factors, Pathogenesis and Etiology of Periodontitis and Systemic Interrelationships - Dr. Perry KlokkevoldPeriodontitis is a multi-factorial disease. Over the past few decades, we have learned to appreciate why patients do not have similar responses to the periodontal pathogens in dental plaque. This course will review the pathogenesis of periodontal disease with particular attention and focus on host risk

factors. Assessment of patient risk factors and the interrelationship of systemic disease will be discussed. Dr. Klokkevold is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, a Faculty Member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) Dental Honor Society and a Fellow of the American College of Dentists (FACD). Dr. Klokkevold is an Associate Professor(Periodontics) and serves as Pro-gram Director of the UCLA Postgraduate Periodontics Residency program at the UCLA School of Dentistry.
