PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Sadly, the California Statewide Law Enforcement Association(CSLEA) and its affiliate, the California Organization of LicensingRegistration Examiners (COLRE), is mourning the loss of CSLEADirector and COLRE President Bernadette Gonzalez. Acelebration of life is planned for this Saturday, November 18, 2017in Sacramento at the Sierra Community Center located at 279124th Street. The service begins at 10:00 a.m.

Bernie leaves behind two adult sons whomshe loved dearly and a family of stateemployees whom she represented andfought vigorously for. We, at CSLEA, wereso very fortunate to have her on our boardof directors and on our team as publicsafety professionals.

My thoughts and prayers are with all whoare grieving the loss of our friend andcolleague. May you find comfort in yourfond memories of her and by perhapscarrying on her mission to protect workers,the middle class, and to be a beacon of

Our two-day CSLEA Board of Directorsmeeting November 6-7, 2017 wasdedicated to Bernadette. During the courseof the meeting we interviewed dozens ofcandidates for the constitutional offices inCalifornia and began voting onendorsements for the 2018 elections. Thisprocess is on-going and you'll will find ourendorsement decisions on our website.

I am extremely proud of our directors, all state employees representing your jobclassifications and volunteering to put in the time to study, not only the candidates, butother topics and issues that impact all of us. They are dedicated individuals who have yourbest interests at heart.

In closing, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to our members, who provideimportant law enforcement, public safety, and consumer protection services to the allCalifornians, and I wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving. Please travel safely.

Here's how it works:If your Unit 7 colleagues are not full members of CSLEA and sign up using your name asa "sponsor" - CSLEA will thank you with $50.00. Ask around.CSLEA members receive enormous benefits over fair-share members. The differencebetween fair-share and full-dues is minimal, in most cases just $5 to $10 a month.
