Coats amp Clarkrsquos new Outdoor Thread (Art D71) re-sists almost every form of weather-related abuse
including UV rays and moisture Use an outdoor fabric that is resistant to moisture and will with-stand exposure to sunlight with our outdoor threadto create these pretty pillows for your pool or deck
Supplies (to make one pillow) Coats Outdoor Thread Art D71 Outdoor fabric (44 to 54 inches wide)
34 yard print fabric- pillow base38 yard solid fabric for boxing strip18 yard solid color fabric for handle
Foam rubber 20 inches square 3 inches thick Plastic wrap or a large plastic dry-cleaner bag
Cutting InstructionsFABRIC Base 22rdquo square of print fabric Cut 2Boxing 4rdquo x 41rdquo strip solid fabric Cut 2
(or 1rdquo wider than foam)
Handle 4rdquo x 9rdquo rectangle of print fabric
FOAM Mark a 20rdquo square on foam Hold foam on itrsquosedge and using a sawing motion cut along themarkings with a sharp serrated steak knife or elec-tric knife
Assembly InstructionsBOXING STRIPS On right side of both boxing strips mark
a dot at pillow corners as shown (Illus 1) Also mark center of each boxing strip Mark lines for handle placement 3rdquo oneither side of center
Reinforce corners by stay-stitching just inside the 12 inchseam allowance about an inch to each side of each dotClip the fabric up-to but not-through the stay-stitching Placeends of boxing strips right sides together Stitch across endcreating a continuous circle
HANDLE Right sides together fold the handle in half length-wise and pin Sew across each short end and long edgeleaving an opening for turning Trim seams and clip cornersTurn and press Top stitch 18 inch along edges of handle
Pin short ends at handle markings Stitch handle to boxingstrip as shown (Illus 2)

along one edge Press and trim seams clip corners and turnto right side through opening (Illus 3)
Wrap foam with plastic bag and slip into pillow cover Reachinside cover and remove plastic Slip stitch opening closed
FAUX PIPINGWith a hand needle and using a basting stitch sew 12 inchfrom seam line on both the base side and boxing strip side of the cover (Illus 4)
