SAFETY TIP OF THE WEEK

Signs of a Break-in

Do not go inside if you suspect someone has been, or still is in your

home. Call for help from a neighbors home or away from the scene.

Do not touch anything. Look for these signs-

- A cut or removed window screen

- A broken window

- A door left open

- Items in disarray or moved

- A noise that sounds like someone breaking in or moving around in your

home.

If you are in the house:

- Do not confront the burglar

- Try to get out of the house undetected

- Lock yourself in a room with a phone

- Try to get a phone to quietly call for help, or activate panic alarm if

possible

- If the intruder enters your room, and you cannot hide, pretend to be

asleep.

BREAKING AND ENTERING NIGHTTIME-SAWHILL

12000 block of Rockaway Court, between 1:00AM and 1:30AM on

April 17, 2013, someone entered the residence and stole $200.00 in

cash and $150.00 in gift cards. A mens wallet was found in the back

yard and the contents were scattered. No suspects.

2200 block of Rock Creek Road, between 10:30AM and 11:30AM on

April 18, 2013, unknown person forced the door open causing

damage to the frame. Nothing was reported missing. No suspect.

5800 block of Marble Arch Way, between 7:00PM on April 18, and

7:30PM on April 19, 2013, someone entered the residence through a

back door. Nothing was taken. No suspect.

11100 block of Thornberry Court, between 3:30PM and 6:00PM on

April 19, 2013, an unknown person entered the residence and stole 7

knives valued at $50.00, and a $10.00 bill from a safe. No suspect.

ROBBERY-DEERFIELD

Near Bambi Court and Deerfield Drive, between 2:00AM and 2:10AM

on April 19, 2013, the victim was stopped by a male and pointed a

gun. He took $50.00 cash then walked away. He is described as a

black male wearing a mask, 57, 150 lbs, short brown hair, or bald.

GRAND LARCENY FROM BUILDING-HOLLEYBROOKE/COBBLESTONE

10700 block of Cobblestone Drive, between 12:01AM and 11:59PM, on

April 22, 2013, an unknown person stole a blue Nintendo 3DS valued

at $170.00 and four games in a black case valued at $40.00. The

victim suspects an invited guest at the party held at the residence.

7400 block of Courthouse Road, between 8:30PM and 9:00AM on April

19, 2013, someone entered the garage through an unlocked door and

smashed the front passenger window of the locked truck and stole a

.38 caliber revolver, valued at $375.00. No suspects.

Freedom Middle School, 7315 Smith Station Road, between 11:15AM

and 2:45PM on April 19, 2013, someone took a black Apple IPhone 4

valued at $500.00, from a pencil bag. No suspects.

GRAND LARCENY FROM A BUILDING-SPOTSYLVANIA MALL

Victorias Secret, 810 Spotsylvania Town Center, between 8:45PM

and 9:21PM on April 23, 2013, a large assortment of womens

clothing were stolen. The majority was womens panties of assorted

brands, sizes, and colors. Estimated amount of loss is $829.50. No

suspects.

GRAND LARCENY FROM AN AUTO

Shirlie Slack, 3475 Jefferson Davis Highway, between 2:30PM and

3:30PM on April 18, 2013, the victim was looking at cars at the

dealership and left the wallet in the car. Upon returning, it was gone.

Chewnings Lumber, 11252 Post Oak Road, between 1:00PM on April

21, 2013 and 6:30AM on April 22, 2013, someone entered the

unlocked tan 2002 Kenworth, and stole the Connex brand CB radio,

valued at 300.00. No suspects.

5300 block of Jefferson Davis Highway, between 10:00PM and

11:00PM on April 20, 2013, the victim was at a wedding reception.

The victim went to dance and left the white Apple IPhone-4S on the

table and someone took it. It is valued at $100.00. No suspects.

Pratt Medical Center, 12101 Carol Lane, between 8:30AM and 5:10PM

on April 18, 2013, someone stole the victims black leather wallet

containing credit cards and personal papers. Wallet is valued at

$100.00. No suspects.

Hope Animal Hospital, 5719 Plank Road, between 12:00PM and

2:00PM on April 18, 2013, someone entered the office and stole a

black and silver purse valued at $15.00. Inside were $5.00 and

assorted personal papers and credit cards. Suspect is a black male,

late 30s, wearing a white t-shirt, shorts, sunglasses.

14400 block of Catharpin Road, between 7:00PM on April 21, and

8:00AM on April 22, 2013, unknown persons entered the unlocked

garage and took two 5 gallon cans full of gasoline, valued at $70.00.

No suspects.

Social Services, 9019 Old Battlefield Blvd, between 5:00PM on April

18, and 12:00PM on April 19, 2013, someone stole a Brand 31 new

pink travel night bag from a desk. It is valued at $80.00. No suspect.

PETIT LARCENY FROM AN AUTOMOBILE-BATTLEFIELD STATION

11200 block of Griffith Way, between 1:00AM and 1:30PM on April 17,

2013, an unknown person entered the unlocked silver 2006 Chrysler

4 door, parked in front of the residence and took $10.00 in change.

The second family car was unlocked and was entered. It is unknown

how much change was taken. No suspects.

9:30AM on April 18, 2013, someone entered the parked car and took

a credit card, 25 tablets of Oxycodone and 25 Vyvannse tablets. No

suspects.

6500 block of Marsh Court, between 8:00PM on April 19, 2013, and

10:30AM on April 20, 2013, someone entered the unlocked gold 2002

Honda and took $5.00 in change. No suspect.

PETIT LARCENY FROM AN AUTOMOBILE-CHANCELLOR PARK

6500 block of Marsh Court, between 8:00PM on April 19, and 10:30AM

on April 20, 2013, unknown person entered the unlocked 2005

Chevrolet Suburban and took $10.00 in change. No suspects.

8000 block of Kerrydale Court, at 3:00PM on April 22, 2013, the

victim purchased a vehicle from out of state. The seller mailed an

extra car key arrived. When the victim went to the mailbox the

envelope was torn and the key was missing. No suspects.

ABC Store, 4185 Plank Road, between 6:19PM and 6:25PM on April

23, 2013, a young white male, wearing black tank top, black hat, and

cargo pants, entered, put one half pint bottle of Black Velvet valued

at $2.95, and put it and left the store without paying.

FRAUD-LAKE WILDERNESS

13200 block of Flintlock Drive, at 5:28PM on April 17, 2013, the victim

was directed to claim the $500,000.00 lottery, but needed to send

$2,000.00 for processing fees. The caller called several times asking

for money and the victim complied. A total of $9,200.00 was sent to

the suspect via Western Union and Money-grams.

300 block of Maden Street, between 10:43AM and 11:15AM on April

19, 2013, someone used the victims e-mail address to obtain

electricity from Dominion Power in Pennsylvania. No suspects.

FRAUD

6700 block of Old Plank Road, between 2:00PM and 3:00PM on April

19, 2013, the victim received a call from a female making home loans

repayable for $295.00 a month on short loans. The victim was asked

to send $3,000.00 by Western Union as a security deposit. The money

was sent. The Cash Advance America business does not exist.

7000 block of Pebble Lane, East, between12:01AM on April 18, and 12:01AM

on April 19, 2013, someone used the victims PNC Bank account number to

make a purchase amounting to $144.80. No suspects.

FRAUD-STONEMILL

10000 Southwich Court, at 12:00PM someone used the victims PayPal to

purchase New York Knicks tickets. The victim did not order them. Cost odf

the tickets is $984.50. No suspects.

FRAUD, ATTEMPT

Starbucks, 3500 Plank Road, between 9:20PM and 9:24PM on April 23, 2013,

a black male tried to pass a counterfeit $100.00 bill. The counterfeit had a

$5.00 magnetic strip and the Abraham Lincoln water mark. Suspect is a

black male, 25 to 30, 6 to 65, 180 lbs. The employee kept the counterfeit.

10600 block of Mockingbird Lane, between 11:30PM on April 17, and 2:00PM

on April 18, 2013, someone cut the side walls of the four tires flattening

them. The vehicle is a tan 2000 Chrysler. Victim suspects a former

neighborhood tenant. Damage is estimated at $800.00.

VANDALISM-SPOTSWOOD ESTATES

300 block of Butternut Drive, at 4:25PM on April 17, 2013, someone

shattered the front storm door of the residence. Cost to replace it is

$250.00. No suspects.

2400 block of Pittston Road, between 8:00PM and 9:30PM on April 20, 2013,

an unknown person threw approximately five eggs at the front porch.

Damage is estimated at $20.00. Victim suspects a neighbor male that has

egged the house in the past.

McDonalds, Spotsylvania Mall, 3201 Plank Road, between 10:00PM and

10:15PM on April 19, 2013 a group of 5 black males became loud and were

disturbing the customers. The manager asked them to quiet down or leave.

Later, they became louder and were asked to leave. On the way out, one of

them broke the glass of the rear door. Cost to replace the glass is $500.00.

10300 block of Lees Crossing Lane, between 4:00PM on April 20, and

8:12AM on April 21, 2013, someone spray painted the left side of the black

1999 Volkswagen and broke the drivers side mirror. Damage is estimated at

$1,000.00. No suspects.

10600 block of Watford Lane, between 8:00PM on April 21, and 8:00PM on

April 22, 2013, unknown person shattered the left door mirror and spray

painted the left side near the quarter panel. No suspect.

10800 block of Stacy Run, between 12:01AM and 4:50AM on April 21, 2013,

1999 silver Ford Escape was spray painted on the right rear door, and the

left side view mirror was broken. Damage is estimated at $500.00. No

suspect.

11800 block of Nicholas Drive, between 12:01AM on April 18, and 2:30PM on

April 20, 2013, someone went into the deck and a shed and damaged the

plastic hood of a Toro lawn mower. Nothing was missing. No suspects.

11200 block of North Club Drive, between 10:30PM on April 20, and 8:00AM

on April 21, 2013, someone damaged the custom green and white wooden

Bird House mailbox. This is a second occurrence. No suspect.

LOST CREDIT CARD

Target Store, 9785 Jefferson Davis Highway, between 3:00PM and 5:09PM

on April 23, 2013, the victim left a purse in a cart and someone found it,

took the $70.00 cash and the Navy Federal Union Credit Card, turned in the

purse to the service desk employee. The credit card was used at a Fasmart

station on Leavells Road.

Spotsylvania County Crime Solvers

From January 2008 to present the Spotsylvania County Crime Solvers has

paid out $18,045 in CASH REWARDS for information through 456 calls to

the Crime Solvers telephone tip line, Crime Solvers Web Tip page and theText-A-Tip phone number. Information obtained has resulted in 88 arrests

involving burglaries, drug distribution, arson, vandalism, breaking & entering

and other crimes against the citizens of Spotsylvania County. To date there

has been $67,679 worth of stolen property, seized property and assorted types

of drugs recovered. Since June 2010 to present 17 Wanted Fugitives have

been arrested and are now facing their charges.
