From the Principal’s Desk

On May 2 we have arranged for the

students of K3, K4, and K5 to have their

Spring is the time for the final round of

drills for student safety. There are three kinds

of drills that we practice in compliance with

public policy. The students are most used to

the fire drills with flashing lights and a loud

horn. This week we also practiced an intruder

drill that has teachers locking doors and

students moving out of sight in the

drill with students moving to interior rooms on

the lower level. If your child has experienced

not giving strangers access to our school.

Thank you for your patience and

Parents’ Preview for April 29th The Parents’ Preview highlights an aspect of next week’s

service: a liturgical song, a Psalm refrain, or a hymn stanza. Our

hope and prayer is that parents will teach this portion of the

service to their children at home during the week so that children

can participate more fully in the worship service.

Your Monthly Food Pantry

Donations Benefit Those in

Need Food donations are collected at St. John’s

each month and are delivered to Christ/St. Peter Lutheran

Church in Milwaukee. Thank you to everyone for your

generosity. Our next Food Pantry collection is May 2nd/3rd

and our lead classrooms will be Mr. Leyrer’s 6th grade.

Earlier this month St. John’s received a letter of

appreciation from Christ Ev. Lutheran Church. It is

amazing to realize how many people’s lives you touch with

your generous donations.

Dear members,

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior.

Thank you for your food/money donations delivered to

us in April. We estimated the delivery to total nearly

200 pounds of food. The food was used for our April

14th Food Pantry distribution. Our Food Pantry serves

about 45 families each month with food, clothing and a

Bible study in either English or Spanish. On average,

we register at least 4 new families each month. Some

of our guests are either needy members of Christ

Church or prospects in our multi-cultural

neighborhood.

Thanks for your continued MONTHLY support of this

important outreach ministry.

Yours in Christ,

Eileen Leinberger, Director

Christ Ev. Lutheran Church Food Pantry

K3 News

This week K3 is learning about the fascinating world of

insects. The children have enjoyed sorting a large

collection of insect models as well as a memory game and

bug bingo. We will hunt for specimens outside when the

snow goes away. We are also enjoying some of our

springtime songs, “The Ants Go Marching” and “I’m

Binging Home My Baby Bumblebee”. We’ve added birds

to our decorations and the ponds are complete with all the

creatures we made.

Earthworms are the gardener’s best friend! We studied

them this week by observing some real worms with a

magnifying glass. The worm movements were fascinating!

Almost everyone took a turn holding a wiggly worm, a

tickly new experience.

Mrs. Gaub from Nature in the Parks dropped by our

classroom this week with a presentation called “Frog

Mystery.” The children learned all about the life cycle of

frogs through a book, Fish is Fish. They learned a frog

song, played a sequencing game, felt frog eggs (tapioca

pudding), and jumped like frogs. It was a hit with the

children! Thanks Mrs. Gaub!

In our Bible lesson we learned how Jesus went back to

heaven. But before he left, He gave us the wonderful

comforting words of Matt. 28:20, “I am with you always.”

The children have enjoyed reviewing some of the songs we

sang for Easter, singing the Lord’s Prayer, and “Jesus In the

Morning”.

~Mrs. Henning

Beginning May 1 The turf may be brown now; but

soon it will be green, and that

means the hum of lawn mowers

John’s relies on volunteers to mow

the lawns at church and school. The Rooted & Mowing

team coordinates the mowing schedule and would welcome

interested members; both men and women, from teens to

retirees. Each volunteer would be scheduled for 1 or 2

times a month. St. John’s provides the equipment and

instructions for the mowers, if needed. If interested, or if

you have any questions, please contact Kurt and Kelly

Kramer or call 414.475.9071.
