What an atmosphere! Once again, time was against us as after a tour of the El Bahia Palace and some frenzied shopping it was time to begin our three and a half hour hour journey baek to the ship or as I was beginning to think of it, home. The following day we arrived at Gibraltar1 a British territory but with many other European influenees; it was a bizarre mix of Spanish, French and British giving it a unique vibe. Atjust a.6 square miles, it’s small to say the least, but make no mistake there is plenty to see and do. Gibraltat’s biggest attraction is the rock, which stands some 1400 feet above sea level and is home to the infamous Barbary Apes... which you will most definitely get up close and personal with whether you like it or not! Other attractions in Gibraltar include their impressive caves, WWI I tunnels, tax free shopping, (needless to~y lover indulged), as well as a huge choice of restaurants and bars. Next it was on to Cadiz, Spain; the last stop before returning to Southampton and where I sadly disembarked. Oporto, one Over a short space of rime the Balmoral became my home and of the stop- the crew like a second family. I wasn’t surprised to learn that offs on the over ~o per cent of Fred.
