Easter Sunday—April 20th

Come and be a part of the history of our church

Concerning the trip to Israel. I

was totally taken aback by the

number of people who showed

up for the meeting on March

9th...over 47! I was expecting

only about 20 to 25, so it was a

pleasant surprise when we had to

put out additional chairs...and then still more!

Again, the March 9th meeting was just a preliminary “get acquainted” type of

thing...in order to figure out whether there was enough interest to move ahead

with planning. Trust me, there was! So, if you are wondering what your next

step is, please begin your savings account. We won’t actually have a sign up until

September of this year. At that time we will activate a website where you can

make your reservations and begin to make payments to the touring company.

Even by September of this year, we will be way ahead of the game. We’ll still be

a year and a half away from the actual trip. So, stay tuned for further announce-

ments. In the mean time...if you could not be at our first meeting because of

conflicting schedules...we will put out information on the trip at the Information

Booth in the church foyer. Pick up one of those...read the itinerary of the

trip...and begin to look over a map in your Bible. You’ll get excited at what all

you’ll get to see and do.

As for our present Sermon Series:

I still encourage you to order a

book through Amazon or CBD...

Soul Detox by Craig Groeschel is

one of those books that fits into

Paul’s encouragement of Philippi-

ans 4:8, “ Finally, brothers and

sisters, whatever is true, whatever

is noble, whatever is right, what-

ever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent

or praiseworthy—think about such things.” As Groeschel puts it, “Everything we allow into our minds, hearts, and lives –

everything we spend our time and money on – has an impact on how we grow or

down grow, spiritually.” As my computer programmer used to say... “Garbage

in, garbage out.” If we do not fill our minds...with that which is true and noble

and pure and lovely...we will be as pure streams muddied with the garbage of this

world.

Sunday morning I mentioned the interesting teaching Jesus gave in Matthew

12:43-45. “When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid

places seeking rest and does not find it. 44 Then it says, ‘I will return to the

house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and

put in order. 45 Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked

than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person

is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation.” Dave

Sapp...who works in counseling...stopped me after the first service and told me,

“That’s exactly what we teach people who are addicted. If they clean up their

lives (I assumed that meant going through rehab or detox), but don’t fill their lives

with something good to take the place of the bad...then they will revert to old hab-

its and be worse off in the end.”

One more thing, we are going to have a Passover

Meal here at the church on Thursday, April 17th. It

will be a ticketed event...and all tickets are $10.

Every time we do this...it is a well-worth it event. I

hope you’ll make it a point to be a part.

Page 3: Crossroads Student Ministry - Clover Sitesstorage.cloversites.com/crossroadschristianchurch1/documents/Apri… · good friends, Mary and Martha, but Martha is too busy to listen.

March 21-22, eleven of our 5th-6th grade students

had the opportunity to travel to Cincinnati, OH

for CIY’s SuperStart Conference for preteens. It was a

great weekend filled with laughter, laser tag, and a

message that lasts. Our students were challenged to consider how they are TREASURED

by God and can only truly find their worth and identity in Him. Can you tell we had fun?

VBS – June 1-5th Every kid loves a good story, whether it’s a

book, a movie, or a video game. So get your

kids excited about the most incredible true

story of all - God’s loving pursuit of us through

time. It’s going to be a great VBS!

TURN IT UP takes a journey through the Bible to give context for God’s Big Story.

This summer, our VBS will help kids discover how they can be a part of the story

when they turn up the power of God’s love in their life.
