Cross Bearing Medical Missions

Sail On to Balut Island!

Cross Bearing Medical Missions

Partners in Ministry

The work of CrossBearing Medical Missions would be impossible without the partnership of Remote Island Ministries and Missionary Glen Knight. We are thankful for Bro. Knight and the RIM team, as well as her sponsoring church, Victory MBC and Pastor Robert Harris.

Looking forward to many more voyages, helping to spread the gospel message of Jesus!

&

On October 18th, a group of six Americans were greeted by Missionary Glen Knight at the Davao International Airport. We then proceeded to Faith Baptist Church where we were welcomed by many of the Remote Island Ministry Team (RIM) and David Sparks of Longview MBC, who had previously arrived to procure more Bibles for distribution. After spending the day sorting medications and supplies for the voyage to Balut, we rested from our long journey in a local hotel.

On Sunday morning we were able to worship with Faith Baptist Church and Pastor Manny Quiazon. That evening, we boarded the RIM Nativa and set sail for Balut Island, 112 nautical miles south of Davao City. We reached our destination on Monday and spent the next two days at work in ministry.

To the right is a portion of the hundreds who came from near and far. Each one came for a medical check-up, but they left with so much more! Each one saw the love and care of the Lord’s people, delivered by hands of compassion.

Although there is a hospital facility located on Balut Island, the need for more space, better hygiene, and security deemed it more advantageous to conduct the medical campaign at the facilities of the Mabila Mission. The open air, concrete floored structure served us well, as we were met by hundreds each morning. In addition, each one who came to the campaign left knowing that it was the care and concern of the Lord’s people that brought the help they received.

During the course of the campaign, the medical team saw over 1000 patients and dispensed over 800 prescriptions. After receiving treatment, each individual (or family) was directed toward the Remote Island Ministry team. There they all received a hygiene kit and a Bible. The RIM team enthusiastically and diligently shared the gospel to all who would listen and countless individuals came to profess Christ as their Saviour. Only the Lord knows the true value of this trip, but for the countless souls saved, it is PRICELESS—to God be the glory!

As we extend our thanks, I would be remiss if I did not also convey thanks from Pastor Benjamin Dela Cerna and Mabila Missionary Baptist Mission; Pastor Boy Tablo and Lipol MBC; Missionary Glen Knight and the Remote Island Ministry Team. Each of these have expressed their thanks to the brethren in the States who helped to make this work possible. Again, words cannot express our thanks!

Why Medical Missions?

During His earthly ministry, Jesus established a “Medical Missions Model” by healing the multitudes as He traveled, taught, and preached. The healing ministry of Christ was more than a “sign” of His Divinity, it was a testament of His love and compassion for humanity. As Jesus saw needs, He was moved within and responded in compassion (Matt 14:14).

As we travel abroad, aiding the Lord’s churches and mission works, it is with medicine that we reach out and show the loving compassion of Christ. We want the world to know that there is a God who loves them, cares about their needs and desires to offer the free gift of His saving grace. Therefore, it is with medicine that we strive to fulfill our motto, “Guiding Others to The Great Physician”. Will you help us to reach this goal?
