INTRODUCTION • In farming, land can range from very small to
very large. • Thus different farmers must have more or less
land, money, access to information, and technology.
• Money or financial conditions is the main thing that plays a very important role in the different farming practices and technology taken by the farmers.
• There exists a correlation between higher inputs and yields.
• Farmers purchasing capacity for inputs decides cropping system and production practices.
• There are many levels of different production practices:-
1. No cost production practices. 2. Low cost production practices. 3. High cost production practices.
• Nutrients is an essential requirement for the growth of plants
• A nutrient is a chemical that an organism needs to live and grow or a substance used in an organism's metabolism which must be taken in from its
environment • Plants get their nutrients from the air, from water
and from the soil • For high yield provision of these nutrients can be
supplied from manure and fertilizers
• There are sixteen nutrients vital for plants:
Scarcity of these nutrients affects the physiological processes in plants like:
i. Reproduction ii. Growth iii. Weakness to diseases
- A chemical or natural substance added to soil to increase its fertility.
- Fertilizers are chemicals or animal manure that are used by farmers and gardeners to supply growing crops with the plant nutrients that they need to be healthy and grow well.
- Fertilizers add to the natural fertility of the soil and work with moisture to ensure that the plant does not go hungry throughout its growing life.
What are fertilizers?
- Fertilizers supply nitrogen, phosphorus , and potassium to plants.
- Fertilizers should be applied carefully or else it gets washed away with water and thus causes water pollution.
- Organic fertilizers is derived from animal or
vegetable matter.
Organic fertilizers
- Many different natural elements can go into the creation of organic fertilizer. Animal manure is a common ingredient in both commercial and home prepared blends.
- Rotten produce bone meal and the decomposing plants removed at the end of the season can also be chopped or ground in to small particles for inclusion in the fertilizer.
