Renewing/Applying For Your Childs Bus Pass Applications for 2018 School Student Transport Scheme (SSTS) and Term Bus Pass (TBP) travel entitlements are now open.

In coming days students who hold a current SSTS entitlement and are changing scholastic years i.e. going from year 2 to 3 or year 6 to 7 and changing school, and students whose entitlement was approved under a medical condition, will receive notification by email or post informing them of the pending expiry of their entitlement. TBP holders will also receive notification.

Students enquiring about pending cancellation should be advised to go online to https://apps.transport.nsw.gov.au/ssts/updateDetails to update details/make application for next year’s entitlement.

Application needs to be made before 31 December 2017 to ensure their entitlement is updated and their current card is not cancelled. If application is made after the expiry of their entitlement (31 December) the system will automatically cancel their card and a new one will need to be issued.

Please note: Students who are changing scholastic years and are remaining at the same school will not receive notification and do not need to reapply (the system now automatically validates a student’s on-going eligibility if at the same school and going from infants to primary or primary to secondary). Where a student meets the new eligibility the system will automatically update their entitlement and card.

Students in the Opal area applying for a SSTS or TBP entitlement for the first time will receive their card (posted to the nominated address) a week or two before the commencement of 2018 classes. Please let students know new cards for 2018 are not posted in 2017 or during the Christmas / New Year period.

Students residing in Rural and Regional (R&R) areas are expected to receive their new travel pass at the commencement of the New School Year. Note; not all R&R operators issue passes (often in smaller communities where the student is known a pass is not issued).

Give us a LIKE! Crookwell Public School’s Facebook page will become live on November 3

rd, 2017. In this week’s News and Views there

is a permission to publish note which includes the Facebook social media page. Students are required to bring this back before they are able to be published on the Crookwell Public school Facebook page.

Our Facebook page will be used to celebrate student’s success, to send reminders and show the latest happenings at Crookwell Public School.

STEM Camp – Part 3 Last week students that participated in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Camp were recognised at assembly for their terrific work. Students were presented with STEM bags to celebrate their achievements within the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Along with students receiving these gifts they presented the school with one of the ‘rescue vehicles’ that they had designed and built as part of a challenge at the camp. Students hope this will be used in further STEM programs here at our school and inspire other students to participate in these exciting areas of learning.

Rock and Water – Holding the pad The focus for this week’s K-2 Rock and Water lesson was learning how to hold the pad and block. Students focused on standing strong whilst keeping the pad against their thigh. It was great to see all students develop and consolidate great techniques that will further support their Rock and Water skills as they move into the primary.

Thomas Cole holds the pad while his partner, Jet Tate,

checks for the red target.

Brax Druett demonstrates the correct technique for

holding the pad during Rock & Water exercises.

TENS – Teddy Dash 1/2B students are practising addition and subtraction strategies through a game called ‘Teddy Dash’. In pairs, students roll the dice and move their coloured teddy along a number line or hundreds chart. The first person to get all the way to the end of the line, by adding, AND all the way back to the beginning, by subtracting, wins!

Tegan Allport is one number off winning the game!

Thomas Cole hopes for a big number when rolling

the 20-sided dice.

Buddy Bench

The wonderful and bright ‘Buddy Bench’ sign arrived this week. The forum’s fundraising efforts earlier this semester allowed the school to establish this seat and signage in our front playground. The forum feels strongly that all students should have the right and opportunity to play happily with others during play times. Thank you forum for a wonderful initiative!

A fantastic initiative by the 2017 Forum Members.

David Pick, Alyssa Huang, Phoebe Murray and Campbell

Primary Ethics Training Workshop 18

& 19 November at Goulburn West PS

If you’re a parent, grandparent or have time, then

please consider helping to deliver ethics classes.

Volunteers often say that they find the classes

interesting and informative to teach. Volunteers are

well supported by teachers who stay in the

classroom.

Primary Ethics provides the opportunity for NSW public

primary school students who don’t attend scripture

classes (SRE) to participate in philosophical ethics

classes. Primary Ethics employs professional experts to

train and support volunteers and who are always

available for you.

The weekly lessons are scripted for you and easy to

follow. It takes about 30 minutes to prepare for lessons

held during school term. The scripted lessons do not

tell the children what to think but rather prompt the

children’s own thinking and discussion about topics

such as friendship, sharing, laziness, fairness. You are

there only to help everybody have input into the

discussion. The classes teach children how to think

about and discuss moral issues in a mutually respectful

way. The children develop skills they can use to solve

problems throughout their lives.

For more information or to apply online, please go

to primaryethics.com.au or phone 0467340045.
