Crochet Christmas Tree Skirt

Abbreviations: • ch = chain • st = stitch • sl st = slip stitch • sc = single crochet • dc = double crochet • sp = space • rnd(s) = round(s) Gauge: 4 dc = 1", 2 dc rows = 1" Finished Size: 47" diameter from peak to peak. Things You Will Need: • Worsted weight yarn: Red Heart Super Saver-2 each Aran, Hunter Green and Burgundy • G crochet hook • Scissors • Yarn needle • 1/2" white buttons, six • Sewing needle and thread Tree Skirt Collar: 5-Sided Granny Motif-Make three of each color. (9 motifs) Rnd 1: Form a magic ring. Ch 3, 2 dc in the ring. *Ch 1, 3 dc*. Repeat from * to * 3 more times. Ch 1, sl st to top of beginning ch 3. Rnd 2: Ch 3, turn. 2 dc in first sp, ch 1, 3 dc in same sp. *3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc in next sp.* Repeat from * to * in each sp around. Sl st to top of beginning ch 3. Fasten off and weave in the ends. Assemble the Collar: Place the motifs on your work surface in a pattern of Burgundy, Hunter Green and Aran. Each motif resembles a house. Using a yarn needle and matching yarn, sew the sides of the houses together. Do not st the beginning and the end motifs together.

Skirt: Row 1: With the back of the collar facing you, start on the right-hand end motif. Continue to visualize the motifs as houses. Attach Aran yarn to the bottom of the roof's right side. Ch 1, sc in each of the 6 sts to the peak of the house. Sc, ch 1, sc in the sp of the peak. Sc in each of the next sts on the other side of the roof. Hop to the next roof and repeat. Repeat on each motif across. Row 2: Ch 3, turn. Dc to the first peak. *Dc, ch 1, dc in the peak sp. Dc to the next peak.* Repeat from * to * across. Dc to the end. Row 3: Repeat Row 2. Rows 4-5: Change to Hunter Green yarn. Repeat Rows 2 and 3. Rows 6-7: Change to Burgundy yarn. Repeat Rows 2 and 3. Rows 8-29: Repeat the color change pattern and Rows 2 and 3. Rnd 30: This is the trim round. Change to Burgundy yarn. Ch 1. Turn. Sc, ch 1 in each st around the bottom edge of the skirt. 2 sc in the end. Working in the end of the rows, sc evenly to the top of the collar. 2 sc at the end. sc in each st on the inside of the collar. 2 sc in the end. Working down the end of the rows, sc evenly to the bottom edge of the skirt. Sl st to the beginning ch of the trim. Fasten off and weave in the ends.

Finishing: Lay the skirt on your work surface and bring the edges of the back opening together. Evenly space and sew six, 1/2" white buttons down the left-hand edge of the opening. Use the dc sts on the right-hand edge as buttonholes.
