Bridgette BeretA jaunty beret is just the right touch to accent
your winter wardrobe. For a closer fit, elastic
can be inserted to provide the perfect finish.
ch-1 space, skip last ch-1 space, join with slip
st to first dc: 90 dc and 30 ch-1 spaces.
Rounds 7-11: Repeat Round 4.
Round 12: Ch 3, dc in next 2 dc, skip next
ch-1 space, *dc in next 3 dc, skip next ch-1
space; repeat from * around: 90 dc.
Round 13: Ch 1, sc in same space and in next
6 dc, work Dc2tog, *sc in next 7 dc, work
Dc2tog; repeat * around, join with slip st to
first sc: 80 sts.
Rounds 14-21: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join
with slip st to first sc, at the end of Round 21,
fasten off.
OPTIONAL FINISHINGCut (1.25 cm) elastic to length of Beret
circumference, allowing a (1.25 cm) for
sewing. Overlap ends of elastic and sew
together with sewing needle and matching
thread. Loop elastic around the wrong side of
Beret between Round 14 and Round 21. Foldup Round 21 to Round 13, so the wrong sides
are together. Thread yarn needle with a length
of yarn and sew Round 21 and Round 13
together, securing the elastic inside.
