TEAMBUILDING GAMES Team building games are based on learning by experience and activities in the nature, through different activities and skills. After introduction, which is a kind of 'get together', making communication easier and relaxing, participants are divided in several groups. Every group on its way, through interesting polygon, must solve problems and tasks which require team work, communication and common decision making. The groups have the tasks and a 'path', but from time to time they meat each other and mutually solve the problems and tasks. Programmes are tailored to your company and team's needs and aims. The aims of the programme can be: better communication and interaction among participants, development of the team awareness, of the feeling of unity and group belonging, stimulation of the self-confidence and confidence to the colleagues, creation of the new team, releasing of stress through different activities, fun and entertainment... Please have a look at some of the games and activities:
Page 4 [email protected]
Categorisation All participants are gathered into the groups according to certain categories (like place of birth, eyes colour, blood group etc.) It is soon evident that in groups participants share many mutual characteristics. After every 'categorisation' participants are mixed again and go from group to group, better know each other and more openly communicate with 'alike people'.
Spider Web The task is finished when all participants of the team cross from one side to the other side of the ‘spider’s net’, and no one touches it. One can go only ones through one hole of the net.
Ski lift All members of the team are on one pair of the skiis. First and the last member take the shoe laces by which they can ‘drive’ the skiis. Groups are competing which will be faster in ‘skiing’ from start to finish. Without good coordination and communication, group will not move from the starting point.
Mine field In the limited area ("mine field”) there is an object which a group has to take. They have only one rope available, and the creativity. In the limited time a group first has to think how to take an instruction, which is in the middle of the ‘mine field’ in which they should not step.
2B or KNOT 2B The members of the team have an entangled task: they have to make decision which is the right one of the many ropes, and they are not allowed to touch the ropes. The group is not allowed further until the decision about which rope to pull is made by all members unanimously (of course, wrong decision is bringing consequences).
www.adriatictravel.eu Page 5 [email protected]
Rope Line All members of the group have to pass the rope tightened among the trees on the approx. 0,5 m height. Of course, the task cannot be done without an intensive cooperation and helping to each other. Task of the
group is that without the fall, by helping one to another, members of the team come from one side to the other side of the tree.
Fall of trust Every participant is coming to the ‘higher place of fall’ and tells to group why he/she trusts them. Then he/she closes the eyes and falls on the back, while the group is catching him/her. The game is over after every
participant experiences the fall.
Tangram The group has to make a subject by available parts of tangram, in limited time. Intergroup anagram The group has to find one word, and every group has just some letters. Communication and information flow is crucial.
High rope polygon The participants have to do the task by using alpinist techniques (helmet, ropes…). This activity is extremely attractive and impressive, completely safe and does not require pre-knowledge or physical condition.
Low rope polygon Activities on the ropes or requisites put low, near the bottom. In this activity it is crucial to have trust to the colleagues who ‘insure’ the participants.
Adventure polygon The teams on determined area have to pass different types of obstacles using the skills and techniques of different kind of sports (orientation, caving, mountain climbing, kayaking/rafting etc.). For solving these types of tasks and problems, team work and good communication is essential.
City Adventure Participants are going from one sight to another, discover and learn about monuments and attractions of the city….step by step they find solutions which lead them to the final aim of the ‘city rally’. Funny and original program full of surprises, even for the locals.
Drumming in Circle Group drumming in a circle makes a profound feeling of unity and belonging. The soul of cooperation is created. A process of spontaneous, mutual creation of the rhythm connects us with our internal creative
source but also one to another. Through mutual drumming in a circle participants will really learn to listen, communicate and support each other.
Indoor program
www.adriatictravel.eu
If it is a separate programme or a back-up in case of bed weather, the programme gives results if executed in closed halls, conference rooms, hotel corridors or sport halls.
Hot Balloons The task is to ‘invent’ balloon which will fly powered by hot air – like a zeppelin. A group gets all necessary equipment. The creativity and capability of the team, also a good project leadership comes on spot. Programmes are original, require intensive team work, but everyone can take part in them. Programmes last from two hours to full day (and more days), depending on your needs and time available.
Corporate Olympics Corporate Olympics is created as a competition of the teams on attractive and entertaining polygons with games. In the end we have a team-winner, or the most successful team. Besides the competitive elements, there are animators-speakers, DJ and hostess, who insure that the event is amusing and entertaining.
Human table football The player are tied up to a piston rod, and all they have to do is play football. As all players have to move in the same direction, a team work and communication is required. The play can be performed indoor also.
Polygon With combination of speediness and skilfulness, participants have to pass different obstacles through which they have go or jump over it (2 teams can compete at the same time). The winning team or single participant is the one who does the whole polygon. The size of the polygon is approx. 16 x 3,5 m.
Sumo Every player – fighter get the suite, helmet and protection for neck. The ring is 4,9 m in diameter.
Mechanical Bull Will you make it 8 or 11 seconds? Or even a little bit longer like real cowboys. The bull stops when the bridle is released from the hands (the size of the terrain is 5 x 5m.)
Artificial Rock The competitors are climbing onto the rock 7,3 m high with help of ropes or humps on the artificial rock. On 3 different levels at both sides of the rocks there are 3 circular spots on which the participant is putting the little pillows in different colour. First team which puts all 3 pillows is the winning team (length of the rock is 5,5 m, a width 4,3 m).

Croatia – business efficiency and adventure in tandem
When adjusting your tie prior to attending an important business meeting, or when signing a business contract, do you ever think of Croatia?
Initially, that question may seem to be a curious one, but actually it is not; for Croatia is the birthplace of both the cravat and the ballpoint pen, two of the visible symbols of the business world. But Croatia is also a land known worldwide for its natural beauties. Few are the countries where in such a small area one can find so many contrasts and so many wonderful landscapes. The beauty of the littoral and the islands are in
perfect symbiosis with the widely diverse interior. Blue and green side by side, in total harmony. Without crowds of people everywhere and without excessive development, with a clear determination to retain the right measure of coexistence between man and nature, as today, so in times to come. How successful this endeavour has been so far is evidenced by the fact that no matter where you are in Croatia you may, without any risk and perhaps with pleasurable surprise, quenches your thirst with water straight from the tap. And Croatia is here, within arm's reach.
Page 16 [email protected]
Criss-crossed by modern roads, with air connections linking it to other European countries and countries worldwide, she is nearby and familiar, easily accessible and yet with an atmosphere so different from the everyday hassle to which you are accustomed. With a long tourist tradition, Croatia combines genuine welcome with the highest levels of professionalism. Here, one finds outstanding conditions for business gatherings, whose success is contributed to by a staff prepared and eager to accept the greatest challenges. It is also an environment for incentive trips that will be long remembered. Croatia – the right choice for those seeking a host for successful conventions and congresses. Business efficiency and adventure in tandem.
www.adriatictravel.eu
Congress centers Many of you have visited Croatia and have seen for yourselves the congress opportunities offered by our country. Even more numerous are those who have heard about it from their friends, acquaintances and business partners. And with good reason. With each passing day Croatia is becoming an increasingly attractive host to numerous congresses, meetings, sporting and cultural events, incentive trips… Organizers of many international and other gatherings already
held here remember the professionalism of their hosts, their hospitality and inventiveness. All combined, this forms an ideal framework for events that are not only memorable but which enter the history of associations, corporations and other organizations as the most professionally organized and most meaningful. And it is precisely for that reason that a number of them have chosen Croatia as their permanent venue. Everything you already knew with regard to the possibilities of the congress industry in Croatia has become even better and more varied than was previously the case. In order to enable you to keep pace with the dynamics of such changes, and to add new facilities and services to your programmes, in this the second issue of our catalogue we have included new capacities, as well as our new business philosophy. SLAVONIA REGION We all have our own concept of Slavonia, the eastern-most area of Croatia. Some remember it for its endless green plains, others for its rich and wonderfully varied folk costumes and its gastronomic delicacies difficult to resist; yet by others for its thermal springs and rich hunting grounds. Many cannot forget the delectable local wines – and the finest testimony to the long-standing vine growing and wine making tradition is the Kutjevo Wine Cellar that dates back to now distant 1232.
Much can be learned about the roots and cultural origins of this area from the famous Vučedol culture, the archaeological finds of which – combined in the symbol of the Dove of Vučedol – take us back to the period of 2150-1850 BC. The same origins can be discerned in the towns and cities of the area, the spiritual and cultural centers of Slavonia: Osijek, Đakovo, Vinkovci, Požega, Vukovar, Slavnoski Brod. The secrets of
nature and its immeasurable wealth can be seen and enjoyed in Kopački rit, one of the still preserved and therefore very important wetland areas in Europe. Whatever first prompted you to consider Slavonia for your business meeting, at the very first meeting with the venue it will become crystal clear, and then further enhanced by the professionalism, warm welcome and hospitality offered by your hosts which – as experienced world travellers have confirmed – has no equal.

ISTRIA REGION Istria is Croatia’s largest peninsula and the nearest access to a warm sea for the inhabitants of Central and Eastern Europe. Tiny romantic towns with medieval centers, widely renowned hospitality and natural beauty. That's the Istrian formula for a successful present and a predictable future in congress tourism. Professional staff know all the right ways to realize the wishes and needs of
those planners
organizing gatherings and meetings, large or small. Its turbulent past has left behind many historical monuments. Touristically, Istria is one of the most developed areas of the Mediterranean, known to many but one that has never revealed all its secrets. The counterpoint to the dynamic life of coastal settings is the tranquil greenery of the
mainland, and the small, acropolis-type towns which combine good organization with very special venues and experiences, making Istria a still more attractive choice. The coastal area boasts many tourist centers. One of these is Umag, famed as much for its tourist facilities as for the tennis tournaments staged there. Then there is Poreč - entered into the UNESCO list of world cultural heritage; Pula with its magnificent amphitheatre; Rovinj with its lovely
architecture and parks; idyllic Novigrad, Medulin and Rabac.
Page 28 [email protected]
And, of course, the Brijuni archipelago, not only one of the most beautiful national parks, but also fully equipped for business meetings, thus combining business with pleasure. Additional memorable experiences of Istria are the opera and concert performances staged in the Arena in Pula, or in the Basilica of St. Euphrasius in Poreč - which has been under UNESCO protection since 1997 as one of the pearls of early Byzantine art. And viewing exhibitions in the open air... it's almost impossible to list everything that makes Istria such an attractive congress destination

KVARNER & HIGHLANDS Having said Opatija, you have practically used the synonym for congress tourism. There are few places where one can, in such a small area as the Kvarner, find such an amazing variety of natural features. The littoral landscape stands almost shoulder to shoulder with the forested and mountainous area of Gorski kotar, the Mediterranean climate and a way of life that differ so starkly from that in the harsh mountain climate, one that is very demanding. Gorski kotar is, above all, a synonym for a forested mountain system, a clean mountain area and preserved nature - and together,
Kvarner and the mountains in its hinterland create a unique harmony of contrasts. Opatija is a fashionable tourist centre with a 150-year tradition, a world so different from the uncomplicated rhythm of life prevailing on the islands. It allows you to spend your mornings enjoying the sea, and your afternoons breathing in the invigorating mountain air. Kvarner is where those seeking the glitter of trendy resorts find what they are looking for, as, for instance, in Opatija where stories of many prominent and famous people who left their mark on history and art of their time, have traveled from life into legend. But this same Kvarner is the cradle of Croatian literacy, the European oasis of the griffon vulture, a home of the delectable Pag cheese and the exquisite lace of Pag… alongside many other features and customs that set this area apart, and at the same
time provide a framework that will make any business gathering taking place here something to be long remembered. Famous Opatija and its Riviera are surrounded by a number of picturesque tourist destinations such as the towns of Crikvenica, Novi Vinodolski, Rijeka, as well as the tourist centers on the islands of Krk, Rab, Lošinj, Cres, Pag… The longstanding tourist tradition of tourism, its geographic location, well appointed hotels and professional staff have ensured that this area is rightly entered onto the congress map of Croatia and this part of Europe, in bold letters.

DALMATIA / ZADAR AREA
Taken separately, the three elements of craggy coastline, soaring mountains and lush, fertile valleys which typify Zadar are individually tempting, and together provide an irresistible magnet for those seeking pleasure while doing business. That’s what the Zadar region has to offer. Located in the centre of the Croatian coast, it is one of the most diverse regions of the country, with its heavily indented shoreline and imposing Velebit mountain chain running down to the green pastures of Ravni. The region also includes Lake Vrana, the largest lake of the Adriatic islands, situated on the nearby island of Cres with a
surface area of 5.7 sq km. The Zadar region boasts up to 300 such islands and rocky projections, only 17 of them inhabited. Civilised life here can be traced back some three thousand years, with the stamp of ancient personalities clearly visible in the streets and squares of towns like Zadar. It is because of its cultural and historic monuments
like churches and other places, festivals and similar folklore events, that make this Mediterranean town so interesting, beautiful and different. And then there is its proximity to the Paklenica National Park and the Kornati Archipelago National Park and, well within striking distance, the Plitvice Lakes, the River Krka Waterfalls and the Northern Velebit. There are also a number of nature parks and the canyons of the rivers Zrmanja and Krupa to churn up white waters especially attractive to those eager to partake in organised adrenalin sports.

DALMATIA / SIBENIK AREA If you imagine a park to be a carefully tended area of grass, dotted with flower beds and an ornamental lake, think again. The Šibenik region of Dalmatia has two of them, 50km apart, totally different. The Kornati is a coastal park, an archipelago comprising 147 islands, islets, rocks, reefs and sheer cliffs of rugged beauty dotting a sea that offers ideal, if challenging, sailing conditions. Add the ability to organise quality business gatherings against a background of real-life incentive opportunities and you are getting
close. The result is an indelibly memorable experience. The Krka National Park, on the other hand, lies inland and covers the course of the River Krka with its weird travertine barriers and natural waterfalls forming silky lakes of breathless beauty. It is almost impossible to refrain from reaching for a camera. These two quite opposite salt and fresh water landscapes characterise the extremes found in this extraordinary slice of the earth’s crust. Stay awhile and the old folk and their ways of life, customs and hospitality, will become increasingly familiar. Šibenik, Primošten, Vodice – these three are the most prominent of the developed tourist resorts. Some are bigger, some smaller, but in this area all are well known to those who enjoy beautiful nature – coastal or pastoral.

DALMATIA / DUBROVNIK AREA
It is beyond question that Dubrovnik and its rival across the bay, the town of Cavtat, are known internationally for successful events and conferences staged there. Most visitors will appreciate the region, the southernmost part of the country, as a land of natural phenomena, intoxicating fragrances, vivid colours and delicious flavours. The combination has been bringing wise tourists for decades and residents have responded by meeting the needs and wishes of every guest. Among the sights to be seen, two rank above the rest. Already
‘officially recognised’ by UNESCO in its list of world heritage, the historic nucleus of the City of Dubrovnik is a worthy inclusion; as is the Mljet National Park. This woodland occupies the western end of the island of Mljet that is also covered with an exceptional wealth of aromatic plants.
Within a relatively small area, several places are worth exploring. In addition to the aforementioned Cavtat, the small historic towns of Ston and Mali Ston, the island of Lastovo, the Elafiti archipelago, the Pelješac Peninsula, the island of Korčula; all offer attractive and developed centres. But even away from the coast, discerning travellers have found that the lower course of the Neretva River is just as interesting and rewarding. There are several facilities which are looking to better days but others can be seriously considered as conference venues and there are
countless facilities for highly imaginative incentive trips.
