Dear Holy Family Parish,

It is with great joy that we are announcing that the public celebration of Mass and the Sacraments will resume the weekend of May 16/17. While this is a blessing for all of us, we must remain conscious that the dangers from the Coronavirus are stil l with us. So as is to be expected, things are going to look a little different for the foreseeable future. I ask for your patience and understanding as we all adjust to the ever-changing situation.

The change with the biggest impact: in response to this “new normal” and after consultation with the various ministry leads and parish councils, we have decided to adjust our weekend Mass schedule.

Beginning next weekend, May 16/17 the Mass schedule will be as follows: Saturday: 4pm (will also be available on live stream) (confessions at 2:30pm) Sunday: 7am 9am (will also be available on live stream) 11am 5pm

An earlier start time on Saturday and Sunday will allow for the possibility that we may need to add additional Masses as we adjust to the limited capacity due to social distancing.

Daily Mass times will remain the same: M-F 7am and 9am (Wednesday 7pm)

Important points to be mindful of as we move forward:

the dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass continues until further notice; weekday Mass can be a great alternative. 9am daily Mass will continue to be live-streamed.

anyone who is sick or not feeling well should not come to Mass.

people over 65 or those with pre-existing medical conditions are advised to remain at home.

the capacity of our Church will be significantly reduced, so parishioners should not expect to attend Mass every weekend.

for those who do not attend Mass, Holy Communion will be distributed in the PLC at 5:30pm on Saturday and 10:30am on Sunday. Mask requirement, explained below, will also apply to those coming for Communion.

There will be a number of changes to Mass procedures:

Proper social distancing remains extremely important. Every other pew will be cordoned off. Families and groups that ride in the same vehicle may sit together; a 6-feet separation between non-family members must be maintained.

Everyone must wear a mask throughout the entire Mass, removing it only to receive Holy Communion. Parishioners should bring their own masks. Masks will not be provided.

If the Church reaches capacity, an additional Mass will be celebrated in the School Gym beginning 15 minutes after the Mass in the Church begins.

The bishop has directed that Holy Communion be received only in the hand. If gloves are worn, they must be removed in order to receive Holy Communion.

Receiving from the chalice will not be an option.

Ushers will be stationed at the doors to help direct traffic, as well as to ensure proper social distancing and that every-one is wearing a mask before entering the Church.

Hymnals and Missalettes will be removed from the pews. You may bring your own. Digital aids will be available, you are invited to follow along using your phone, tablet or other device.

Collection baskets will not be passed, but will be available in the center of the church prior to and at the conclusion of Mass. Electronic giving is a safe option for everyone.

The sign of peace, which is already optional, will be omitted.

There should be no hand holding during the Our Father. Hands folded together and held at the chest is the preferred posture.

Everyone who is able to do so is asked to bring their own sanitizing wipes and gels to help keep the church clean.

To allow time for Church pews to be sanitized, doors will remain closed until 20 minutes before Mass. Please wait in your vehicle.

Liturgical Ministers. Please be patient and flexible as we adapt to this new situation, we will be notifying you through MSP and your ministry coordinator.

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. To be determined

Other Sacraments:

Reconciliation will be available - Wednesday from 5:30-6:30

- Saturday from 10am-11am and again from 2:30pm to 3:30 - by appointment

Father will hear Confessions in Parish Life Center.

Baptisms, weddings and funerals will be scheduled with social distancing requirements in mind.

Anointing of the Sick is available for those in serious need or in the danger of death.

It is going to take time for all of us to adjust to the “new normal” of parish life, I ask for your understanding as we all work our way through the coming months.

Thank you for all of your prayers and support these past few weeks. I look forward to seeing all of you soon.

In His Peace, Fr. David Keegan

All are welcome to participate in our first Virtual Theology on Tap Jacksonville. Since we can't meet in person, we want to bring Theology on Tap to you, so kick back on your couch with your favorite drink and tune

in, because this is going to be a great evening.

This month's theme is, "Ask a Priest." We have three priests joining us on Zoom, and you will be able to ask them any questions you may have about the priesthood, religious life, Catholic teachings, how to stay faithful in

quarantine, or any other burning questions.

We will be hosting Father Phillip Timlin, pastor of Mary Queen of Heaven, and also the Young Adult Chaplain for Jacksonville.

Father John Sollee, parochial vicar at St. Joseph Parish. Father John Luong, OMV, vocations director for the Oblates of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Dear Holy Family, Over the years in seminary I have been hearing about the wonderful parish of Holy Family. Every seminarian who has gone through there speaks glowingly of the parish. So, I am beyond thrilled for Holy Family to be my first assignment as a priest. I look forward to meeting and getting to know all of you over these next three years. I thank you in advance for your patience and helping me to grow and learn how to be a priest. A little bit about me before I arrive. I grew up in Jacksonville Beach attending St. Paul’s at the Beach as my childhood parish. I attended the parochial school there and went to high school at Stanton. I have a deep love for the city of Jacksonville, it is my hometown and I am immensely proud of that fact, and it is a gift to be able to be assigned here. Please pray for me and know of my prayers for all of you. Sincerely, Deacon Christopher Knight

Dear friends and family of Holy Family,

It is with gratitude to God that I wish to notify you that I have been transferred to San Juan Del Rio Parish as Associate Pastor effective July 1, 2020. Because of the pandemic, it is rather sad that I cannot share this news with you in person.

I wish to use this opportunity to thank all of you for your prayers, friendship, and assistance you have given me

since my assignment began at Holy Family Parish on September 15, 2014. I had a good and rewarding time with all of you. I specially thank Fr. Tim Cusick, Fr. David Keegan, Msgr. Mort Danaher, Msgr. Daniel Logan, and Deacons for their friendship and for mentoring me through the years. I would also like to thank the Holy Family Church and School Staff. I am also thankful to have assisted and worked with all the Ministries, Clubs, St. Vincent de Paul Society, and Assisted Living Facilities within the parish. You are all a true testament as to what Stewardship is all about – helping and loving our fellow neighbors.

I ask for your continued prayerful support in my new assignment, and I will continue to pray for you. God bless you all.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Fr. Matthew Ibok
