TENSION 24 sts and 32 rows to 10cm measured over st st using 3¾mm (US 5) needles

BUTTONS – 1 x size 22mm

EXTRAS - piece of lining fabric 20cm x 30cm (8in x 12in).

FINISHEDSIZECompleted small gadget cover will meas 13cm (5in) wide and 17 cm (6½ in) long.Completed large gadget cover will meas 15cm (6in) wide and 20cm (8in) long.

BACKUsing 3¾mm (US 5) needles, cast on 31 [36] sts. Beg with a K row and working in st st throughout cont as folls:

Cont until back meas 17 [20] cm, ending with WS facing for next row.Nextrowandeveryfollaltrow(WS):K4 [5], P to last 4 [5] sts, K4 [5].Nextrow:Sl 1, K1, psso, K to last 2 sts, K2tog.These 2 rows set the sts and decreases, cont as set shaping sides by dec 1 st at each end of every foll alt row, until 3 [4] sts rem.Cast off.

FRONTUsing 3¾mm (US 5) needles, cast on 31 [36] sts. Beg with a K row and working in st st throughout cont as folls:Cont until back meas 17 [20] cm, ending with RS facing for next row.Nextrow(RS): Knit.Nextrow: Knit.These 2 rows form g st.Cont in g st for a futher 2 rows, ending with RS facing for next row.Cast off.

MAKING UPPress as instructed on ball band.Join cast on edges of front and back using mattress stitch.Trim backing fabric to fit knitted section, adding seam allowance along all edges. Fold seam allowance to WS along all edges of backing fabric. Lay backing fabric onto knitted piece with WS facing and sew backing fabric in place along sides.

Join side seams using mattress stitch.HeartDecorationUsing double-pointed 4mm (US 6) needles cast on 4 sts.Row 1 (RS): K4, *without turning slip these 4 sts to opposite end of work pulling it quite tightly across WS of work, K these 4 sts again, rep from * until strip is approx 15 cm long.Cast off.Make another 3 strips in this way, one more measuring 15 cm long and 2 measuring 10 cm long.Using photograph as a guide, neatly sew these strips in place onto front of cover to form heart shape.ButtonLoopUsing double-pointed 4mm (US 6) needles cast on 3 sts.Row 1 (RS): K3, *without turning slip these 3 sts to opposite end of work pulling it quite tightly across WS of work, K these 3 sts again, rep from * until strip is approx 3 cm long.Cast off.Attach to cast off edge of back.Attach button using photograph as a guide.
