Principal Report Next week we start our review process, which occurs every four years. It usually takes around three days to complete, and from this, we can develop the School Strategic Plan for 2020-2023 and subsequent yearly focus areas. We are looking forward to the process, and planning for the next chapter of our school!
Parent-Teacher Interviews have been completed successfully again for this semester. The staff appreciate the time they get to spend with each family and celebrating the achievements of each student.
We have had a busy time recently with Fishcare, Dreamseeds, Re-Cranked and the Life Ed van, all occurring in the past couple of weeks. Along with our new weekly Clubs program, and cooking sessions, the students are certainly getting a wide variety of learning within the curriculum, with an emphasis on hands-on practical skills.
Finally, we wish the selected students representing the school in the Cross Country at Russell Square tomorrow all the best. They have been practising and preparing very hard at school, but will certainly need the long weekend to recover!

Year F/1/2 Classroom
The much awaited Life Education Van arrived today and didn't disappoint. Harold the Giraffe made an appearance and he is always a highlight. Today’s Life Ed session was on ‘Safety Rules’. We learnt all about safe and unsafe environments and how to care for others. Our first Big Write took place this morning as part of our VCOP Writing Program. Thanks to those families who discussed the topic at home prior to today. It really makes a difference with students being able to bring prior knowledge to school and get the most out of the Big Write session. Thanks again to everyone for making the effort to attend Parent Teacher Interviews last week. The interviews are a great opportunity to discuss your child's progress early in the term. Random Acts of Kindness charts are a focus in our classroom where each child has the opportunity to be rewarded for displaying kindness. Everyone is enjoying colouring in their charts when their act of kindness is recognised. You may notice that your child brings home a mini certificate every now and then, that is either a 'Cool Question Award' or a 'Wow Word Award'. This encourages children to expand their vocabulary and their thinking and they love being rewarded for their contributions. We hope everyone enjoys the long weekend! Regards Katrina Baulch and Virginia McLennan

Year 3/4/5/6 Classroom Fishcare – The volunteers from Fishcare delivered another wonderful, engaging fishing program last week. The volunteers once again did a fantastic job
teaching students all about fishing. The program is always well liked by students, particularly day two, whereby students get to test their luck at a fishing location, in this case St Georges Lake. Nine fish were caught, one trout and eight redfin, with Maple taking home the prize for the largest fish. As usual, students were well behaved and loved the day. Mr R cooked up lots of yummy BBQ sausages and thanks to Beth for making ANZAC biscuits for everyone.
Dream Seeds – The year 5 & 6 students participated in a leadership workshop called ‘Dream Seeds last week. The program is delivered by post-secondary students from around Victoria and aims to build aspiration, resilience and connections for rural primary students to make the transition to secondary school a little easier. Students created personal goals and reflected on their own values and vision for the future.
Cross Country – The squad had its last training session yesterday in preparation for Friday’s cross-country event at Russel Square. The team will be transported to and from Russell Square leaving a bit after 9am. I am confident all will complete their required distances and hopefully a podium finish as well?
Harold, the giraffe once again graced us with his presence today during our ‘Life Ed Van’ session. The Relate, Connect, Respect session certainly engaged the students and gave them some great strategies on how to improve relationships with their peers and beyond.
Finally, a big thank you to all the parents for coming along last week to discuss their children’s progress. It is a great way to stay informed and discuss any concerns parents may have.

We have started collecting bread tags again for this very worthwhile cause. The school and community did such a wonderful job last year that we were able to donate close to 1000 bread tags. The collection buckets are at the front office.

Rebel Sport have a new Community Givebacks program, replacing their old Rebel Rewards program. If your Rebel card is already linked to Creswick North PS, your points will still automatically be collected and added to our schools tally. If you haven't got a Rebel card, it’s free to get one from any Rebel store and link it to our school. As a community, if we spend over $2000 in a year, we receive monetary rewards to buy sports equipment from Rebel stores, for our students to use at school!
