KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION

Last Tuesday our 2019 Kindergarten and their parents took part in the official orientation. The children began by singing a song with their pre-school teachers and this year’s Kindergarten before taking part in activities with their Year 5 buddies. The parents then were treated to an information session including messages from Mr Upcroft, Mrs Lipscombe and Mrs Marchment from our school, Mrs Vermeulen our Librarian, Alethea from Busways, Sharon Osborne our Scripture provider, Sammi Fatnowna our Itinerant Support Teacher Hearing / Middle Ear, Kate Fair representing our Ethics program, Mary Dunkley representing our canteen and Riitta Kytola representing our P&C. As you can imagine this was a long but worthwhile session with parents being able to find out more about what kinds of supports are available for their children and how they, as new parents, can become involved in school life. We welcome these new families to our school and look forward working together towards success at school.

QUEST REWARDS DAY

Last Friday Mrs Munday, Mr Meyn and Mr Upcroft took our Quest Leaders to the Stoney Aqua Park. This excursion was to thank these students for giving up their lunch times throughout the year to look after the younger students in the school, organise activities and help students to solve their own problems. The group had a great deal of fun throughout this day climbing, swimming and jumping off the many obstacles that the park had to offer. Well done Year 6.

SANTA PHOTOS

Thank you to the families who supported our P&C Santa Photo fundraiser this year. The conditions were perfect and we enjoyed a relaxed, Crescent Head Christmas vibe.

LIBRARY NEWS

As November draws to a close and we turn the page to December, Christmas and the last days of school begin to loom, this is the time when a librarian's thoughts turn to.......STOCKTAKE!! Last week was the final week of borrowing and we now ask if you can return all CHPS library books by this Friday. Overdue notices will go home this week to help in your search. Thank you in anticipation of your help. Please don't hesitate to contact Mrs V.

CHPS STUDENTS NOW PUBLISHED AUTHORS

After a solid year of planning, researching, writing and illustrating Our Crescent Head is now in paperback form. This book contains contributions from all of our students from Kindergarten through to Year 6 covering topics from "What we love about Crescent Head" right through to "Threats to Killick Creek." This wonderful collection of information is beautifully presented thanks to the amazing photography of Pip Eppelstun and the wonderful graphic design skills of Christa Moffitt. This book would make a great Christmas present and is now available at our school for the bargain price of $25.

ART SHOW AWARDS

Congratulations to CHPS students who received acknowledgement and awards for their contribution to the Coastal Chic Art Show. We have some very talented artists in our midst.

MOVEMBER - BY AMBER PELLEN

Movember has been running for 15 years. It first started in 2003 when two mates from Melbourne decided to make a campaign to raise money for men’s health and prostate cancer. My Dad has been doing Movember for eleven years. I personally think that all the mos look fantastic. There are so many people growing mos for Movember. It is such a good cause so if you would like to donate to Movember please go to https://mobro.co/kempseymobros

This is a photo of Dad and I in Movember 2009 and a photo of dad, Jade and I this year.

A friendly reminder for all families using our early supervision service for your children is that there is no supervision available before 8am each morning. There is often nobody besides our cleaner onsite at this time. Teachers starting time is 8:30am with the first active supervision starting at this time. Ms Fair who supervises the children most days in this free service, at times, does come in earlier but usually to prepare for her class for the day ahead. We are asking families to please show respect for this by keeping your children in your care until this service begins at 8am.
