FROM MOTIVATION TO DEDICATION

Lioness movement in Punjab. ‘Red Cross’ and ‘Ludhiana Ladies Club’. “Still… I felt, I am not doing anything very

constructive”. Passion and love for Baking, Cooking and Ice-Cream

making. Punjab Agriculture University. Local fetes and fair. Catering business. 1978, small ice-cream manufacturing unit, Rs.20,000

investment.

1983, formally registered business as “Cremica”. 1990’s, terrorism in Punjab, three Sons entered her

business. Turnover boomed from Rs.5crore to Rs.20crore.

In 1995, Buns supply to Mc. Donald's. International quality bread crumbs, tied with UK

based EBI foods. First sauce plant, 50:50 venture with Quaker Oats. ITC Sunfeast and Cadbury tied with Cremica. 2005, award from president Dr. Abdul kalam.

New fully automated units in Greater Noida and Mumbai.

At Una in Himachal Pradesh, new plant with capacity of 5000 tons per month.

2011-2012, annual sales- Rs.650 Crore. Even in her 70’s she is not taking rest rather closely

monitor quality herself and keep on coming with new recipes and products.

In initial years, used to work more than 12hrs. a day with 3-4 hrs. sleep.

No compromise with ingredients.

Family business of Bector’s, trading in food grains, oil, fertilizers got affected.

New-new flavours for hand made Ice-cream. Vegetarian mayonnaise (eggless). Whole new process of bun making improvised, as

bun supplier of Mc. Donald’s. Own testing labs at each factory.

Entrepreneurship: By Chance. Characteristics of entrepreneur: self driven by high

level of energy, multi skilled and multi-faceted and work under constrains but never accept constrains.

Why become entrepreneur: Sense of fulfillment. Challenges faced as women entrepreneur: Social

stigma. Myth busted: Money is main motivation.
