Registration is open for the Creekside Talent Show! Get out your dancing shoes, sing a song, write/tell a story, paint a picture, find your magic wand, gather friends or do a solo. This year’s Creekside talent show will be Friday, May 2. Doors will open at 5 p.m. for visual art viewing. Performances will start at 5:30.

All acts are limited to 2 minutes. Students wanting to participate can sign up at the link below. To help our talent show run smoothly, each act is required to attend rehearsals on Wednesday, April 23 AND Wednesday, April 30. Space is limited so plan your act and sign up!

Put First Things First
By Ella Miller When you put first things first you prioritize. Prioritizing is when you organize what you want to and have to do. It means doing the most important things first. For example, if you have a book report due Friday, a math sheet due tomorrow, and a science project due next week, you would do the things you have to do first. It might look something like this: first, do the math sheet. Next, do one paragraph of your book report. Finally, do some research for your science project. Now you can go play Minecraft or do whatever you want. If you put first things first, life will probably be a lot easier.

CAREER DAY IS COMING! April 1st
Career Dress-Up Day April 2nd
Please check out the full edition at the Creekside office.
The Newspaper Club was started by a group of 4th graders who created the very first edition entirely on their own. Because of their interest in writing, April Stevens, the Guidance Counselor offered to be the advisor for a more formal Newspaper Club and opened it up to any others who were interested in joining. The club meets on Wednesday mornings at 8:30 (roughly every other Wed) and the students work on their articles on their own in between meetings. The students really run the club. They decide what they want to write about and April helps them pull it all together into a newsletter format.

Balloon Brigade Part II Foundation volunteers bearing balloons and cheer surprised winners of Kateri Brow Big Idea/Biggest Need Grants on Friday, March 28. Awards ranged in amounts from $1,000 - $10,000 and covered a myriad of projects, from Academic Intervention Systems and Teen Center Support to Go! Motion Sensors and Lab Quest equipment for Science. Each grant was made possible by Foundation donors whose generous contributions enabled us to award nearly $90,000 for Classroom Enrichment and Kateri Brow projects that enrich education, inspire innovation and fulfill unmet classroom needs. Congratulations to our award-wining teachers and THANK YOU to our donors. View the full list of winners at Kateri Brow Awards. Well Done We received a glowing review from a parent who attended Matt Glover’s Writing Workshop last month. His residency at our elementary schools and parent workshop were made possible by Foundation donors. Thank you!
I enjoyed the workshop and feel I am better prepared to support my children in their writing development. Additionally, I want to mention the changes to the writing curriculum have been noticeable and impactful. The differences in my first grader’s experiences and that of my fourth grader and sixth grader at that point in school are phenomenal. There is no reluctance and the energy and motivation are natural and inherent. The curriculum changes and the workshop address what as a parent I knew needed attention but I did not know what if anything could be done. You got it done! Lisa Milkowski, Briarwood Elementary parent

The Issaquah School Foundation is once again hosting a fundraising Luncheon on May 8th from 11:30-1:00pm at its traditional place, at the Issaquah Community Center. It’s a terrific way to support our schools, network with parents, community and business leaders and hear inspirational stories from ISF grant recipients and program participants. You’ll also learn why private support of our public schools has become the only way to ensure student success. There’s no fee for the lunch, but a suggested donation of $150 during the event will go a long way towards reaching the Nourish Every Mind goal. Last year, you helped Nourish Every Mind 2013 raise a record $691,500--nearly half of the Foundation's budgeted revenue. This year, our goal is $744,000. We can't achieve it without you! This year, our event is bigger than ever with the addition of a Nourish Every Mind Breakfast. The Breakfast will take place on Wednesday, May 14 from 7:00 am - 8:30 am at Eastridge Church. Theresa Nguyen, Creekside PTSA ISF Rep, and our very own PTSA President, Kavitha Kumar, will be Table Co-Captains this year. Please contact Theresa Nguyen at [email protected] or Kavitha Kumar at [email protected] if you would like to attend. This is a very big event in our school community and well-attended each year. Don't miss it!
Luncheon: Thursday, May 8th from 11 am – 1 pm at the Issaquah Community Center
