Rising Stars Contest

Want to see what it takes to become a Rising Star of the Festival? The Rising Stars Contest, presented by Benchmark Bank, puts budding blues and jazz musicians on stage and before judges and an audience. The winning musician or group will win a $200 scholarship award and a slot on the MDZ Family Stage at 7 p.m. Saturday. (The runner-up will receive a $100 award.) Students in middle school and up through age 20 are eligible to participate.

Musical discovery zone Presented by Giant Eagle: The “Zone” will return again this year with an expanded offer-ing that includes the MDZ Family Stage, adjacent to the amusements rides, along the south side of Granville Street.

Along with the expanded entertain-ment offering, families will continue to enjoy this free, hands-on blues and jazz musical learning experience - beat the bongos, blow the horns, make your own musical instrument and more. Musicians from the Jazz Arts Group and Columbus Blues Alliance will provide children with a hands-on experience.

Jazz Brunch at Mezzo’s: Treat Dad and the entire family to delicious cuisine at Mezzo’s, which will host the 5th-annual Sunday Jazz Brunch.
