“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed,
citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever
has.”
― Margaret Mead

Believing From the will and effort of determined people, NGOs and Civil Society Organisations were born, have grown and
specialised. As organisations, NGOs have been giving individuals the strength to face global human challenges such as
human poverty, injustice, hunger or violation of human rights, challenges so wide and broad that they are impossible for
one person to address, due to feeling overwhelmed or powerless.
The truth is Non profits make a difference in the world we live in and they have been making a difference from the very
beginning. This is the reason why we see NGOs and their partners* as key promoters to change in society and this is
why we have set ourselves the mission to empower high potential change makers.
Still more challenges to come In 2013 NGOs and society in general will continue to face difficult times as the complexity of the challenges
they are facing increases. The not-for-profit crusade is a constant quest to improve the lives of people all over
the globe and new trails are developing in the light of day .
Creating changeNon profit organisations are getting smarter about the way they are addressing social problems and ensuring human
dignity by using the existing (many times scarce) resources available. However, the non profit sector should not forget
that it is also necessary to invest time and energy in their own development, in order to face new and current
challenges non profit organisations need to focus on building the capacity of their people and organization for a wider
impact.
“I can't change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust
my sails to always reach my destination.”
Jimmy Dean

Specialised in the non profit sector
We specialise and work exclusively with the non profit sector, i.e. organisations that are neither private market
oriented firms or solely organised for profit generation.
The non profit sector consists of (a) organisations that are (b) not-for-profit) and hence do not distribute any surplus
they may generate; (c) are institutionally separate from government; (d) are self-governing and (e) are non-
compulsory, meaning that membership and contributions of time and/or money are not a condition.*
These organisations in the non profit sector can be referred to in various ways, either as ‘non-profit’, ‘civil society’,
‘voluntary’, or ‘non-governmental organisations’.
Non profit sector*
The following are illustrative examples of the kinds of entities that can be found within the “non-
profit sector”:
- Non-governmental organizations promoting economic development or poverty reduction in less
developed areas, humanitarian assistance and relief;
- Advocacy groups that work to promote civil and other rights, or advocate the social and political
interests of general or special constituencies;
- Foundations, i.e., entities that have at their disposal assets or an endowment and, using the income
generated by that asset, either make grants to other organizations or carry out their own projects and
programs;
- Community-based or grass-roots associations that are member-based and offer services to or
advocate for members of a particular neighborhood, community or village;
- Non-profit service providers, such as hospitals, higher education institutions, day-care centres,
schools, social service providers and environmental groups;
- Arts and culture organizations,
- Social clubs that provide services and recreation opportunities to individual members and
communities;
- Unions, business and professional associations that promote and safeguard labour, business or
professional interests

A good alternative to traditional face-to-face training is taking courses online, which nowadays can be offered on a wide variety of subjects and are equally as effective as sit-in learning sessions. Brigh Chameleon is currently adapting some of the courses delivered in a face-to-face format to an elearning and blended learning format. The following learning options are being transposed to online versions: Creating successful campaigns
Managing meetings effectively
Using social media for high impact
Professional English

Online courses
Online courses are modules developed to give people the flexibility to learn anywhere and at any time. You can
choose to attend BrightChameleon's online courses, or to host your own training

Blended learning
Blended learning combines online with face-to-face learning.
Our aim in providing blended learning is to provide the most efficient and effective learning experience to
organisations by combining different delivery modalities. By using blended learning NGOs will benefit from greater
time flexibility, freedom and convenience for staff and volunteers attending training courses.
ACESSIBILITY, WIDER CHOICE AND FLEXIBILITY
Courses are adapted and flexible which allows learning at own pace. There is no limitation on
courses chosen and independently of where the learner lives or works access is granted to
courses (even on the other side of the globe). The learner can learn anytime and anywhere.

18
Every project should fit and support your organisation's
strategic plan, as it is through projects that your organisation
delivers strategy and fulfils its mission.
Strategic Planning Strategic planning is key to an organisation's activities
and projects, and the natural first step you take before
undertaking any kind of project or activity. Yet, the
complexity of some projects or activities can make
planning a difficult task or its long duration can make us
loose sight of our real aims.
However, with projects gaining increasing complexity, involving different stakeholders while simultaneously
needing to guarantee outcomes, a simple prioritization of activities is not enough to 'get the boat to safe
harbour'.
Over the years, project management became a standard way of working for most organisations, yet it is the
linkage between the projects, its deliverables and the end result that interest strategic planning and
management.
Creating a roadmap for your success
Our experts assist you in designing and planning your
projects, helping you choose the most impactful
activities and most efective working mechanisms,
always keeping track of your project evolution.
We do this by looking into the following:
- Strategic tools;
- Project planning and management;
- Risk analysis and management;
- Financial planning;
- Communication;
- project monitoring and evaluation.
19
Facilitation of Working Groups
Meetings and working groups are part of our everyday work and lives as they are vital for communication
within and outside an organisation, yet many meetings are lost opportunities considering how much
more could have been achieved.
We also assist you in guiding and facilitating internal discussions and work coordination, as well as
supporting you with tools for project & activities scheduling, defining goals & project deliverables and
establishing supporting plans (HR, Communication plans, Risk management) for your activities and
projects.
Tailor-made Solutions We strongly believe that success in projects depends to a great extent on how collaboration and
knowledge sharing can help drive the project towards its outcomes. It also requires new ways of
thinking and doing, coordination and effective communication between all involved parties.
To have a wider impact, your organisation may need to re-think and re-organise systems,
processes and structures while delivering the activities and projects you envisage.
BrightChameleon can support you by coming into your organisation at specific periods of your
program, providing feedback and a hands-on approach to increase your chances of success.
Below are some of our tailor made solutions
- Action learning for group leaders
- Path to solutions
- Coaching
- Group discussion facilitation
