CCOOSSTTUUMMIINNGG AATT JJOOUULLLLEE Costumes are an important component of Calisthenics, as they enhance the performance of each Item. They are also a vital asset of the club. The expectation at Joulle is that parents/guardians are responsible for the completion of their own child’s costumes i.e. sewing/sequinning. We will also assist you in any way we can.
A Costume Coordinator and an Assistant Costume Coordinator will be appointed to each section and they will be responsible for the organisation of costumes within that section. Parental assistance is required throughout the process of costume making. We are aware that everyone has different skills and abilities and ensure that everyone is supported as needed.

BBAALLLLAARRAATT –– RROOYYAALL SSOOUUTTHH SSTTRREEEETT Each year Joulle Calisthenics competes at the prestigious Royal South Street competition at Her Majesty’s Theatre in Ballarat.
This competition unlike others requires overnight accommodation.
Joulle Calisthenics stays at Goldfields Big 4 Caravan Park. Each family is required to contact the park to arrange payment of the deposit (directly to the park) and to make the final payment. You will be advised when you need to contact the park to make any payments.
This is an amazing opportunity for our students to perform on such a magical stage and it is a requirement for all our Subbies, Junior, Inter and Senior students. Parental support for this competition experience is vital.
We may also arrange a bus to pick up all the students, family members and props to transport them to the venue. This is an additional cost that is worked out between each section. It is approximately $10 per person.
SSTTAAGGEE PPRRAACCTTIICCEE Stage Practice for 2020 will be held on the following dates: Tinies, Subbies, Juniors: Saturday 20th June Inters: Thursday 18th June Seniors: Wednesday 17th June Masters: Monday 13th July Stage Practice is to be held at Burrinja Cultural Centre 351 Glenfern Road, Upwey.

It is expected that ALL students attend Stage Practice as this is an important step for our younger students to be “Stage Ready”
It also allows our coaches to work on stage placement. At Joulle we like to ensure that all of our students are very comfortable on stage by their first competition. It is also a great team building day for the girls to spend time together and get to know each other. Parents are required to stay where possible to help with finalising costumes and head pieces for the coming season.
AANNNNUUAALL CCOONNCCEERRTT Our concert for 2020 will be held at the Alan Ross Centre at Billanook College. 197-199 Cardigan Road Mooroolbark. Friday 2nd October 2020. Tickets go on sale 4 weeks prior to the concert through Try Bookings. The Concert is a great day, it also requires volunteers to help it run smoothly. You may be asked to offer help prior to the concert or during the break. If you are asked to help backstage you do not need to purchase a ticket.

PPRREESSEENNTTAATTIIOONN NNIIGGHHTT Presentation night is to held at the end of the calisthenics season and after the Annual Concert. This is a day where we recognise the hard work of all our students. Each section is presented with medals for each 1st, 2nd or 3rd they received for each item at competitions throughout the year. Coach’s Awards will also be presented at Presentation Day. This is where 1 child from each section is recognised by the coach. The Coach’s Award can be based on improvement, commitment or leadership. It is purely the coach’s choice and it is not a committee selected person.
CCLLUUBB PPHHOOTTOOSS Tinies and Masters have a dedicated photo day - Date and location TBA. Sub Juniors, Juniors, Inters and Seniors will have their photos taken at Her Majesty’s Theatre during our Ballarat competition. Team photos are taken of each item they performed during the year.
