Vinnies’ 2019 Street Appeal

On Friday, 13th September, right across the nation, volunteers wearing the well-known royal blue of Vinnies were seen shaking and rattling tins for their annual Street Appeal. The Street Appeal is a fundraising initiative which supports Vinnies’ Emergency Relief program.

This program addresses the needs of people experiencing poverty and at risk of homelessness, with dignity, compassion and respect through the provision of food, clothing, furniture and bedding, help with utility bills and rent, along with friendship, advocacy and support. For approximately three hours, 22 students from Years 10, 11 and 12 were on Ocean Keys Boulevard, in Clarkson speaking to the public about Vinnies’ Good Works and collecting donations on their behalf. Our students were wonderful representatives of the College and received many compliments about their manners and the generosity of helping with such a worthy cause, raising nearly $500. Miss Cherie Milne Campus Ministry

ATC Cheer and Dance Competition On Sunday, 15th September, 43 students who make up four of our College Dance and Cheer teams, participated in their final competition of the year at Claremont’s HBF Stadium. Two stand-out performances included the Hurricanes who placed first for the first time in five years, an accomplishment even more impressive considering the very high quality of the opponents in our division. In their first year of competitive dance, our Lyrical Team secured first place amongst equally strong competition. All four teams represented the College with pride and are to be congratulated on their outstanding performances throughout the term, having each placed first at least once in this year’s competition season. Well done to all students who participated on Sunday. Placings: Hurricanes: 1st Place Lyrical Dance Team: 1st Place Twisters: 2nd Place Senior Dance Team: 4th Place

An Invitation to Have Your Say for CECWA Policies The Catholic Education Commission of Western Australia (CECWA) is reviewing our system policies supporting our 75,000 students and 12,000 staff in 162 schools. We invite all students, parents, CEWA staff and members of your community to help by telling us: What makes a good Catholic school? Facilitated sessions will take place at our Leederville office. You can book your preferred session time online and choose from: * Early Years LOFT Sessions (for Pre K-Year 4 Students and their Family) * Open LOFT Sessions (Years 4-12 Students, Families, Staff and Community) During the school holiday sessions, participants will also help to create a mural alongside local artist Linzi Carter. This is an evolving creation, whose form will develop with each session. We welcome you to participate in this unique opportunity to have your say on the future of our schools.
