ELECTRICITY SYSTEM OF MONGOLIA

The Mongolian electricity system is consisted of the following five regional system:

Central region electricity system Western region electricity systemAltai-Uliastai electricity systemEastern region electricity systemUmnugobi province electricity system

Energy sources consist of seven thermal power plants, Durgun and Taishir hydro power plants, the Altai Uliastai diesel plant, and low capacity renewable energy sources.Installed capacity of the Mongolia's energy production is 981.5 MW of which the central regional capacity takes up 814.3 MW.

CONFERENCE

Energy Mongolia 2013 Int' conference and exhibition was succesfully organized in

Ulaanbaatar, Mongoliain accordance with the Ministry of Energy's decision to declare 2013 as

a year of Energy Efficiency. During this event we were able to introduce the government's long

term plans for the future development of Mongolia's energy sector to both domestic and foreign

companies and investors. Participants included over 90 companies from 10 different countries,

and memorandum of understandings were signed by both state owned and private companies

during this event.stSince the 1 Energy Mongolia Int' conference and expo took place in last May,we have

completed feasibility studies on the construction of Baganuur, Shivee-Ovoo and Western

region power plant projects, and the construction work has been started on the Tavantolgoi

power plant and the Eg River hydro power plant. Also we are working on commissioning of the

100 MW capacity expansion for the Combined Heat Plant-4 and 50MW capacity expansion for

the Combined Heat Plant-3.

The objectives of this year's international conference and exhibition will be to introduce

innovative and environmentally friendly technology to the current and prospective projects,

exchange views and experiences, and to establish mutually beneficial partnership that will

strenthen Mongolia's competitiveness in the energy sector.

The Ministry of Energy is giving a great importance to the “Energy Mongolia 2014” Int'

Conference and Exhibition since recommendations and established partnerships from this

event will have a signigicant impact on the future development of the Mongolia's energy sector.
