A LinkedIn Account is a great place for professionals and companies to share information, showcase industry expertise and professionally network. You will be able to connect with current and prospective clients and share relevant articles/information about you and the industry as a whole. Connections help keep you top of mind. Setting up a basic account, or a Personal Profile Page, is free. You can upgrade your account by several tiers for a fee, but the basic page will suffice for an individual.Get started: https://www.linkedin.com/home

Getting started

Creating an account only requires your name and email address. You should use your business email, as this is how connections (potential and current clients) will contact you.

Creating an Account Choose a category and a Page name that represents your business. Pick a logo or another image that people associate with your business to use as a profile picture. Write a sentence about your business so people understand what you do. Set a memorable web address for your Page that you can use on marketing material to promote your presence on Facebook. Choose a cover photo that represents your brand and showcases your product or service. It's the first thing people will see when they visit your Page.

You will automatically receive industry related information, connections and offers within LinkedIn when you select an industry.

Recommended settings

As you customize your Account, there will be opportunities to import new and current contacts from other email accounts, Google accounts, Facebook and Twitter. You can also easily build your network solely through LinkedIn.

Starting a network

LinkedIn lets you invite other LinkedIn members, colleagues, classmates, friends, family and business partners without entering their email addresses. Simply send them an invitation and upon acceptance they will have access to your connections, activity and posts—and vice versa. Connecting with someone on LinkedIn implies that you personally know them or have a mutual acquaintance.
