Presentation Notes
As a leader, you set the tone for your building, and I’m encouraging you to create a positive culture where the health and wellness of your staff is actively supported. To start with, I’ll be sending you an e-mail later this week, which will contain a link to request a “Culture of Wellness Toolkit” to help support the work you are already doing in this area. The District’s Wellness Connections program provides wellness challenges and activities that support you and your staff in attaining and maintaining physical, emotional and financial well-being. Our theme this year is the “Road to Wellness”. There are many ways for you and your staff to participate, earn badges and be entered for incentive prizes. Let me highlight the fall offerings: The “Minutes to Win it” team exercise challenge kicks off on September 21 and lasts for eight weeks. This is a great way to foster comaraderie among your staff. Along with that, we’re piloting functionality which allows you to upload your exercise directly into Alliance from multiple types of wearable fitness devices to make it as easy as possible to participate. Studies have proven that employees who are worried about their finances aren’t able to stay fully focused and engaged at work. So we’re offering a free, confidential, self-paced, on-line financial fitness education challenge. You can sponsor low-cost, on-site exercise programs at your worksite by contacting Advantage Health. Or, join a gym that offers a discount to Jeffco employees. And to take care of yourself, and suggest to your staff, new this year, we are offering a free app, available to be downloaded to Apple or Android devices, called “Destressify”. You’ll need to register using your Jeffco e-mail address, under the “Impact Foundation” in order to receive this app at no cost. If you haven’t yet subscribed to the wellness blog, I can tell you that it’s a brief, once weekly blog, that focused on cutting-edge research and support tools in the area of wellness and emotional well-being. And, lastly, I’d like to thank Valerie Pollitt, Beth Watts and Wendy Woodland for working with the Wellness Connections and Healthy Schools staff to pilot the Calming Kids program at their schools this year. Thanks for all that you do to support our staff. I encourage you to participate and to take good care of yourself and your families as so many people depend on you, myself included!
