NL-ENG.K-12.6 APPLYING KNOWLEDGE Students apply knowledge of language structure, language conventions (e.g., spelling and punctuation), media techniques, figurative language, and genre to create, critique, and discuss print and non-print texts
NL-ENG.K-12.12 APPLYING LANGUAGE SKILLS Students use spoken, written, and visual language to accomplish their own purposes (e.g., for learning, enjoyment, persuasion, and the exchange of information).
Georgia State Standards:ELA5C1 The student demonstrates understanding and control of the rules of the English language, realizing that usage involves the appropriate application of conventions and grammar in both written and spoken formats. e. Varies the sentence structure by kind (declarative, interrogative, imperative,and exclamatory sentences and functional fragments), order, and complexity(simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex).

What are the different types of sentences?
Declarative Sentence
A declarative sentence expresses a statement.
The punctuation at the end of the sentence will be a period. (.)
Example: I love to play with my friends.
Interrogative
InterrogativeThese kinds of sentences ask questions.
The punctuation at the end of these sentences uses a question mark (?)
Example: Do you like pizza?
ImperativeThese sentences tells or will ask someone to do something.
These sentences usually end with the punctuation of either a period, or they may end with an exclamation point.
Example: Please bring me a glass of water.
Exclamantory
An exclamatory sentence shows strong feelings and emotions.
These sentences will always use anexclamation point at the end of the sentence!
Example: This garbage bag smells!
