The Center for Rural DevelopmentCommunication (CRDC), University of Sindh isthe premier institute of DevelopmentCommunication in Pakistan. Every year it offersa one-semester Professional Diploma programin Rural Development Communication (DRDC).This unique training program prepares theparticipants for successful careers asCommunication Experts/Media Specialists inGovernment, NGOs and developmentorganizations.

Three batches of the professionals have alreadygraduated. The admission for fourth intake of 30students is being announced.

Course Objects Imparting state-of-the art instruction andfunctional training so that participants are ableto understand the rural society and theimportance and use of communication inovercoming problems and issues ofdevelopment in rural areas.

Assisting program participants to undertakesurveys, action research and media writing sothat they are able to devise sustainablecommunication strategies and methodologiesfor specific issues in rural areas.

Providing hands-on training to programparticipants so that they can operate variousaudio-visual equipment and make professionalpresentations and develop ICT materials forrural development projects and initiatives.

Course Structure: This course will beconducted in seminar like situation. Lectures,yes. Assignments, yes. Exams, yes. But as muchas possible, the emphasis will be on

discussions. The labor of participants work willbe judged from their performance in exams,class activities and discussions. Therefore, itwill be in their own interest to be regular inclasses and be on time.

Course Duration: This onesemester (fourmonth) course will be conducted thrice a week.

Eligibility: Bachelors degree holders in anydiscipline from HEC recognized universities;

with proficiency in English language may applyfor admission. Relevant experience in the fieldof journalism, electronic media andgovernment/NGOs projects or programs will begiven preference in admission.

Application Forms: The forms can be obtainedfrom the office of Director CRDC on payment ofRs.500:00 (non-refundable).

Admission Fee: A lump sum amount of Rs.10,000:00 will be payable at the time of admission.(This amount is inclusive of admission, tuition,examination and diploma certificate charges).
