Attention Teens - Take Advantage of Opportunities!

State 4-H Council Regional Representative

The Missouri State 4-H Council is an elected body of youth from 4-H who serve for one year. Council mem-bers help plan and carry out State 4-H Congress and 4-H Teen Conference. They also represent Missouri 4-H at national, regional, and state events. Any 4-H members, age 14-17 on Jan. 1, 2016 may apply to be a candi-date for regional representative. Four youth from each Extension region are elected each year.

Regional Representatives are selected through the following process.

January—Eligible youth submit a Regional Representatives Application form and letter to your county

extension office. Deadline is January 31.

February—Applications and recommendation forms are sent to the Regional Committee and a schedule

for the regional interviews will be sent to applicants.

March—Interviews are held in each region. All applicants must attend. Three to 9 candidates will be selected to run for East Central Regional Representative.

June 3-5—State 4-H Congress—candidates will be introduced at regional meetings. Candidates will give campaign speeches and regional elections will be held. Installation of new members will take place the final morning of State 4-H Congress.

Applications can be found at: http://4h.missouri.edu/missouri-4h-council.aspx

Missouri State 4-H Recognition Awards

Teens, ages 14-18, by January 1, 2016 may submit a Level III award application to be recognized as a State Excellence award winner and be eligible to attend National 4-H Congress. Recognition Award applications are to be submitted to your county extension office by January 31 and will then be forwarded to the regional committee. Each applicant must attend a personal interview in March. Up to 8 candidates from each region will be sent to state. The top 35-40 applicants state-wide are then selected to interview at the state level. The top 20 of these finalists are selected to attend National 4-H Congress in Atlanta, Georgia in November 2016 as Missouri 4-H delegates.

Camp Counselor Applications are due March 1 for 4-H members 14 and over. See attached ap-plication.

4-H MOVE Across Missouri

MOVE promotes physical activity and encourages youths to engage in a broad range of activities. There is no pre-registration re-quired this year. To participate:

Enroll in the Move Across Missouri (MOVE) project HF775 in 4HOnline in your profile.

Use a paper tracking system found on the 4-H website: http://4h.missouri.edu/4hmove/moveinfo Youth and families can “log” the number of minutes they accumulate through-out the year. The competitive period will be from February 1 to April 30. Youth and fami-lies will submit the total number of minutes logged through 4HOnline.

For more information visit: http://4h.missouri.edu/4hmove/main

Be a 4-H Member in Good Standing!

4-H club members are recognized for setting and complet-ing goals each year. At a minimum, a 4-H member should:

Attend a majority of your club meetings.

Enroll in at least one project and finish it. This in-cludes attending a majority of project meetings, work-ing on project goals, keeping records on a project.

Demonstrate a skill learned or knowledge gained by making a handmade item, exhibiting a project or pro-ject animal at a show or fair; presenting a speech, re-port or demonstration in a group setting such as a club or project meeting.

When a 4-H club member meets these requirements, they are recognized for “completing a year of 4-H member-ship” and are a “member in good standing”.
