ARE YOUR CRANES FIT FOR THE FUTURE? CRANE RELIABILITY STUDY

HOW RELIABLE IS YOUR EQUIPMENT?

ARE YOUR CRANES CAPABLE OF MEETING GROWING PRODUCTION DEMANDS?

DO YOU HAVE A PLAN FOR THE LIFE OF YOUR CRANES – SUCH AS FUTURE PRODUCTION

AND SAFETY STANDARDS?

DO YOUR TOTAL CRANE COSTS CONTRIBUTE TO A POSITIVE ROI?

ARE YOU USING YOUR CRANES AS THEY WERE ORIGINALLY CLASSIFIED?

ARE THERE ANY SAFETY ISSUES WITH YOUR CURRENT EQUIPMENT?

IS IT TIME TO MODERNIZE OR REPLACE AGING CRANE ASSETS?

Konecranes Crane Reliability Study (CRS) provides accurate information detailing the current condition and future needs of your crane. CRS guides your maintenance and modernization decisions and provides information to increase the safety and productivity of your crane.

CRANE RELIABILITY STUDY DELIVERS THE ANSWERS

CRANES ARE NOT DESIGNED TO LAST FOREVER

ALL CRANES HAVE A FINITE SERVICE LIFE.

MACHINERY COMPONENTS RECEIVE INCREASED CYCLES DURING EACH LIFT. FAULTS GROW FASTER, AND SCHEDULED INSPECTIONS AREN’T FREQUENT ENOUGH

TO PREDICT FAULT TO FAILURE.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO DETERMINE THE DESIGN LIFE OF YOUR CRANE COMPONENTS.

HOW MUCH TIME DOES YOUR CRANE HAVE LEFT?

HAPPY CUSTOMER HYDRO, KARMØY PLANT, NORWAY

Hydro Group is Europe’s largest producer of aluminum extrusions and one of the world’s largest producers of aluminum metal. Hydro called on Konecranes to perform

a Crane Reliability Study on the crane in their Karmøy plant in Norway.

The study of Hydro’s cranes found that the remaining lifetime of the hoisting gears was only 10 percent. Continued use of cranes with gearbox failures may have

resulted in catastrophic equipment failure. The Konecranes CRS team recommended that Hydro replace eight hoisting gearboxes in seven of the 10 cranes.

“OUR MAINTENANCE ACTION PLAN INCLUDES THE CRS REPORT. WE HAVE THREE CRANES BUILT IN 1986 AND TWO CRANES BUILT IN 1997. THE PLAN IS TO INSPECT THESE CRANES TOO. EVERY JOB WE HAVE

DONE HAS BEEN A GOOD EXPERIENCE.”

RUNE ULLENSVANG MAINTENANCE MANAGER, HYDRO KARMØY
