The crane operator needs to communicate through the Page/Party ® system or a radio system. A second form of crane is the port crane, which is a large self-contained mobile structure with its own work crew. The port container crane loads & unloads crated and containerized shipments dockside onto ships and railcars. The port crane operator must communicate to personnel on the ground and other members of the port crane’s crewlocated in the machine house and structure. The space within these crane cabins is limited and many times functions are required to be hands-free. Some of the typical requirements include: Page to the personnel below the crane to warn of movement. Page to the entire Page/Party ® system. Use of footswitches to allow operator to control crane functions. System Configurations B00041 (120VAC) & I00044 (24VDC): The station contains a remote gooseneck microphone assembly, a two- position rotary switch and maintained pushbutton for selecting mode of operation (OFF, SYSTEM 1 and LOCAL), and two foot switches. The first foot switch controls page access (push-to-page), and the second foot switch controls party line access (press-to-talk, release to listen). The position of the selector switch determines the mode of operation: LOCAL - page audio is sent to a specific speaker amplifier that broadcasts one-way pages. SYSTEM 1 - used for hands-free communication within the Page/Party® system. OFF - the microphone is disabled. Astation speaker (not included with the customstation) can be connected to the station’s remote amplifier to monitor the system page line in any of the selector switch positions. Both the system page line and the party line are monitored via the station speaker when the SYSTEM 1 position is selected. Page 1 12420106

D96002: The Desk-Edge Crane Cab Station provides page line and party line communications. The 25 inchgooseneck microphone is used to access the page line and the subset handset is used to access the party line. Thestation includes a jack for plugging in an auxiliary headset that can also be used to communicate on the party line.

Party line communications are available by using the subset handset or an auxiliary headset. Using the handset, theoperator simply lifts the handset and two-way communication can occur with individuals off-hook on the party line. The handset can also be used to access the page line.
