CP Pool 2020 Season

Revised 6/30/20

Community Park Pool (CP) is scheduled to open for the 2020 season on Monday, July 13. Due to new guidelines and restrictions from the NJ Dept. of Health (DOH) in response to COVID-19, there are a number of important changes that all CP patrons should review below.

Summary of Most Significant Changes – Please Read!

No membership options in 2020. Visitors will ‘pay as you come’ with a daily admission fee model. This includes public swim,

morning adult lap swim, senior dip, & morning kiddie pool program. All visitors to CP Pool must register (free registration) for a Daily Admission Card (DAC) that will be

scanned at each visit when you also make your daily admission payment. Social Distancing is required both within the facility AND while in the water. If social distancing

isn’t being maintained, PRD/CP Staff reserve right to cancel any/all blocks of time without notice. Masks/Face covering is strongly encouraged while visiting CP Pool with the following exceptions:

Masks are not allowed to be worn in water and masks should not be put on children ages 2 & under.

Daily schedule will be different with more defined blocks of time for different activities. Schedule is built in two-week blocks, known as Windows. Window # 1 is from July 13-26.

Capacity is restricted by new DOH rules. Entry to any given block of time is not guaranteed. PRD/CP reserve right to change schedule without notice, restrict capacity without notice or

cancel any/all blocks of time without notice. PRD/CP reserve right to utilize online reservation system, as necessary.

No rain checks/refunds for inclement weather. Please check weather before coming. NEW: Children ages 10 & under cannot come to CP Pool unaccompanied. If accompanied, the

older guest must be at least 17 years old. See attached pages for detailed explanation of all key changes to rules, regulations, schedule,

Daily Admission Card (DAC) & How To Get One Due to DOH capacity restrictions and modifications to the daily schedule, CP Pool will NOT be offering memberships as in past years. Visitors to CP Pool will ‘pay as you go’ as capacity restrictions mean that entry to CP Pool will not be guaranteed from one block of time to the next. Per DOH, all visitors must be accurately logged into our system in case there is a need in the future to do contact tracing. Because of this new requirement, we are instituting the Daily Admission Card (DAC), which must be scanned each time you enter the facility, at the same time that daily admission fees are paid. Registering for a DAC is free of charge. To obtain a DAC, any Princeton resident or 2019 pool member must register (no fee) via our online registration system at: http://register.communitypass.net

o I Have a CommuntyPass Account? Use your account to register for a 2020 CP Pool DAC. For

patrons that already have a CP Pool photo ID card from a previous summer, your pool photo ID will now serve as your DAC and be activated once you complete the free registration process.

o I Do Not Have a CommunityPass Account? You will need to create a CommunityPass account for yourself and/or your family and then register for a 2020 CP Pool DAC. Once registration is completed, a DAC will be created for you with your name(s) on the card. You will be contacted about dates/times to pick up your DAC at the Recreation Dept. office or at CP Pool.

Newly issued DAC’s will be printed in batches, so please do not come to the Recreation office to pick up your DAC until dates/times for pick-up are announced.

Registration for CP Pool 2020 DAC begins on Wednesday, July 1 at 12 pm. Registration is online at https://register.communitypass.net/princeton or can be done in-person at the PRD office beginning on July 6, 2020. We highly encourage online registration to minimize crowding at the Princeton Rec. offices. A downloadable copy of the DAC registration form can be found in the ‘Handouts’ section of www.princetonrecreation.com All 2019 nonresident CP members will be eligible to register for a 2020 DAC and pay the nonresident daily admission fee at each visit. Due to capacity restrictions, we will not be accepting any new nonresidents into the DAC program this year. Daily Access Cards (DAC) are non-transferable. Lost DAC cards must be replaced and there is a $10 fee for a new card. Guest Policy: In Window # 1 (July 13-26), guests will not be allowed. Only DAC holders (Princeton residents and 2019 members) will be allowed in the facility. Every visitor during public swim, AM lap swim & senior dip, and AM kiddie pool must have a valid DAC. Guest policy will be evaluated for Window # 2 (July 27 – August 9)

New Rules & Guidelines

Maximum capacity is restricted to 50% of normal per DOH. During peak times, CP Pool staff will

closely monitor capacity in the facility. There may be times when you arrive at CP Pool and have to wait for some patrons to exit before you can enter.

o A pre-reservation (and pre-paid) process for a certain number of spots in select blocks of time may be utilized if necessary. PRD staff reserves the right to implement a pre-reservation process for any/all blocks of time, as deemed appropriate. If pre-reservation process is used, there will be no refunds for failure to show up for a pre-purchased time slot.

Per NJ DOH, we must keep a log of every visitor, for every program, every day. All patrons visiting for AM adult lap swim, senior dip, AM kiddie pool program and public swim blocks must register for a DAC, then scan your DAC & pay for each visit.

Social Distancing: The NJ State Dept. of Health (DOH) requires social distancing to be maintained both within the facility AND while you are in the water. To promote social distancing, CP Pool staff will periodically remind patrons to social distance, periodic announcements will be made, and signage will be posted. That being said, maintaining social distancing both in and out of the water is the responsibility of each CP patron and parents/guardians will be expected to monitor their children. If social distancing at CP Pool and in the pool water cannot be safely maintained, public swim blocks may be modified or cancelled.

Mask/face covering is highly encouraged while within the facility as you may have other patrons nearby. Wearing a mask/face covering is highly encouraged when entering the locker room area. It is encouraged to wear a mask/face covering at all times while visiting CP Pool with the following exceptions:

o Per DOH, Masks/Face covering cannot be worn in the water. o Per the NJ DOH, children under 2 years of age should not wear a mask/face covering.

Foot coverings must be worn when using the locker rooms. We reserve the right to limit the number of patrons in the locker room at any time. To discourage crowding and loitering in the locker rooms, there will a reduced number of showers and lockers available.

The concession stand will not be open in 2020. Please feel free to bring your own food, but note that there will be limited seating available. No glass containers are allowed in the pool complex.

Plastic chairs will not be available. Visitors to CP are encouraged to bring your own chair. NJ DOH recommends limiting availability of these amenities.

No sharing of equipment among guests.

No inflatable rafts/toys in kiddie pool.

PRD/CP cannot store or hold on to scooters or skateboards for patrons.

There will be no seasonal lockers issued in 2020. Daily locker use only and please bring your own lock. Per NJ DOH, there will be a reduced number of showers, sinks, lockers, etc. available.

We will not be holding on to lost & found items. Clothing and towels will be discarded at the end of the day. Lost & found wallets, phones, valuables will be held at the pool office.

The open-air community room will not be available for visitor use. This space will be used for lifeguards and other CP staff to utilize so that they can maintain social distancing while not on duty.

Entry and Exit areas and patterns may be adjusted. Please pay attention to new signage, new flow of patrons, as well as signage on the ground to assist you.

Inclement Weather

If inclement weather is approaching the CP Pool complex, patrons will be asked to exit all pools,

gather their belongings and exit the facility. These decisions will be made as early as possible to allow patrons plenty of time to safely leave the complex. Due to social distancing mandates, we will not exercise our typical ‘wait it out’ approach with hopes of re-opening the pool later in the day as we have no space for patrons to gather and wait. There will be no refunds or rain checks issued due to inclement weather. Patrons should check the weather prior to coming to CP Pool.

The PRD Management reserves the right to cancel any/all blocks of swim time due to inclement weather or safety concerns about potential inclement weather. This decision is solely that of the PRD/CP Management Team.

If the weather forecast for any given day shows high temperatures not exceeding 80 degrees, the PRD/CP Management reserves the right to cancel all public swim blocks. In this case, a decision will be made no later than 8 am on that day, and possibly as early as the night before. Closings and cancellations will be communicated through the following channels:

o PRD Facebook: www.princetonrecreation.com/princetonrecreation o PRD Twitter: www.twitter.com/princetonrec o PRD website: www.princetonrecreation.com

o Email Blast to all registered DAC holders
