Canyon Creek PTA’s Annual Sports fan Bingo is coming soon! This year’s event is FridayMarch 6th at 6pm at Bothell High School Cafeteria. We will have great raffle items, silentauction, bingo baskets, concessions and a food drive for the Maltby Food Bank. Don’t
forget to wear your favorite team jersey or tee!
Preorder forms and classroom Bingo basket information will be sent home Feb 9th.

The last contest of the 2014-2015 school year, sponsored by the Canyon Creek PTA, is here!!
From Feb 9th - 13th bring your labels (Box Tops, Labels for Education and Tyson Project A+) to school in a Ziploc bagwith the teacher's name on the outside. The top 3 classes with the most labels will win a popcorn party!
**Please remember that we only need ONLY the label being collecting – not the entire packaging. Also, any expiredBox Tops cannot be accepted. If the expiration date is missing it also deems it invalid. Thank you!**

Congratulations! Canyon Creek has been recognized with the Gold Level Award for a 10 % increase in membership from the previous school year. Let's make it to PLATNUIM by increasing our membership by 20%. We are on our way. Members can show their love and support this month by giving a PTA membership to a family member or encourage friends to join. A membership form is included on page 10 of this newsletter.

Did you know that there are lots of great ways to give back to our schoolthrough partnership programs?
Here are just some of the great programs already in place to help our school:
- Fred Meyer Community Awards: Sign up for the Community Rewards program by linking your Fred Meyer Rewards Card to Canyon Creek Elementary PTA at www.fredmeyer.com/communityrewards. You can search for us by our name or by our non-profit number (81720). Then each time you use your rewards card at Fred Meyer our school earns a donation!
- Safeway: If you visit www.escrip.com and enroll your Safeway Club Card our school will earn up to 4% back of sales. Our group ID# is 8561138 and we are listed as Canyon Creek Elementary School.
- Target Take Charge of Education: By enrolling your Target REDCard our school can earn 1% on all purchases made. Click here to enroll. Also watch Facebook in August as Target often has their Give with Target campaign where they will donate $1 for every vote for a school (after 25 votes).
- Labels for Education: You can help our school earn points which we can spend on items such as school supplies, gym/recess equipment, etc by saving any marked boxes from participating products. You can bring in these labels any time during the school year and give them to your teacher or put them in the bin in the front office. You can also earn points by registering your shopping cards (QFC, Fred Meyer, Safeway) online at http://www.elabelsforeducation.com/Sites/Campbells_eLabels/Page/HomePage.
- Box Tops for Education: Twice a year Canyon Creek hosts a Box Tops competition. You can clip and save Box Tops off participating products and bringing them into your teacher or in the front office in a Ziploc bag. Please note your student’s teacher name on the bag.
- Tyson Project A+: For every clipped label off of marked Tyson participating products our school earns $0.24.

Northshore Kindergarten Orientations for2015-2016 School Year

When is Kid’s Night Out/ Parent’s Night Off? Friday, February 13th, 6-10pm.
Where is Kid’s Night Out/ Parent’s Night Off? Near the Lynnwood Old Spaghetti Factory, in thePeregrine Building. 10524 24th Ave. W. Lynnwood, WA 98036
Who is running this event? Kid’s Night Off/Parent’s Night Out is a community event, put on by Northside Church. All volunteers for this event have been trained, screened and have had backgound checks. And,they love kids! What will my child be doing? Kids age 3 years to 6th grade, will be divided into small groups,. They’ll be rotating through various activity stations (crafts, games, snack, etc) with a designated leader. K-6th graders will be coming together for an exciting rally time at about 7:30.
We recommend pre-registration for all children. Drop in children will be accepted only as space is available.
The Northshore School District works with community organizations to provide information to families about not-for-profit services for students. The listing of any organization's flier does not imply that
the services they offer have been endorsed by the Northshore School District. Please contact the not-for-profit organization directly regarding their program offerings.
Basic First AidDo you know how to respond in an emergency? Learn the most common medical and injury emergencies, such as, treating shock, opening an airway, controlling bleeding and much more. This course is meant to meet workplace requirements and upon successful completion, you will receive an American Heart Association student manual & certification card valid for two years. Registration must be received by the Monday before class begins

2014 – 2015 Key Advocacy Events2015 PTA Convention April 17 - 19
ADVOCACY
Focus Day
Focus Day 2015 took place on Monday, January 19th. PTA members and children fromacross Washington State assembled at the state capitol to advocate for children's issues
and the WSPTSA top 5 priorities. This is an important year for advocacy as thelegislature is faced with preparing a budget to adequately meet the funding
requirements from the McCleary lawsuit.
From Canyon Creek Elementary PTA, Mindie Wirth attended the event, bringing over adozen handwritten postcards to our 3 legislative representatives, and had the chance tomeet with all of the District 1 representatives over the course of the day. At noon, PTA
members met at the steps facing the Justice Building to rally and hear from stateleaders and leading advocates.
Later in the afternoon, PTA members from within Northshore Council were treated to aprivate tour of the governor's residence by Trudy Inslee.

We would like to express our gratitude to Karli Geller for her continued advocacy for studentsrecess time. We have some great new equipment for our kids and look forward to more
improvements in the works.
Thank you to Michelle Pue and Jodie McClure for getting Lango Spanish classes and OvertimeAthletic Sports added to our school after school programs.
A huge thanks to our 2nd and 6th grade families who contributed to our Tailgate Staff Appreciationlunch.
