PARENT INFORMATION NIGHT
TONIGHT Thursday 8 February
Kinder/Stage 1 5 - 5.45pm Infants Open Space Stage 2 5.45 - 6.30pm Stage 2 Open Space Stage 3 6.30 - 7.15pm Miss Noble’s Classroom
Dear Parents/Caregivers, The first full week back at school has been a busy one! This week our Wiradjuri language lessons started up again for the year and we welcome back Aunty Esther, who will be teaching language with Mr Murray every Tuesday. Mrs Wright has met with all our interested Band students, the school choir is up and running again and Mr Vogel’s STEM classes have been full steam ahead! It is wonderful to see in every classroom, such happy, respectful students who are highly engaged and ‘on task’ with their learning! On Wednesday and Thursday we welcomed Don Collins from Cowra Bus, Janine Finlayson from Cowra PCYC and Vanessa Browne from NRMA, who presented our annual Bus Safety talks to all classes across the school. Each class was invited to hop on one of the Cowra Bus coaches and students listened to some important information and tips about how to keep themselves and others safe. A large number of our students regularly catch the bus to and from school, and it is important that we regularly review these safety measures. Thank you to Cowra Bus, PCYC and NRMA for their continued care and support of all our CPS kids! Tonight we will be holding a Parent Information Evening at the school. This is a wonderful opportunity for all parents to come along and meet their child’s teachers and find out some general information about how classes are organised, homework expectations, upcoming events and general school routines. The timetable for this evening is as follows; 4:30pm-5:00pm – Mrs Haskew’s class - please meet in Budyabudya classroom ( upstairs primary building) 5:00pm-5:45pm – Kindergarten and Stage One – please meet in the Infants Open Space 5:45pm-6:30pm – Stage Two – please meet in the Stage 2 Open Space (downstairs primary building) 6:30pm-7:15pm – Stage Three – please meet in Wilay 3 Classroom (upstairs primary building) ** Mrs Hopkins will be meeting individually with her parents at their organised times. We look forward to seeing everyone at school tonight. Preparations are well underway for our school Swimming Carnival which will be held next Tuesday 13th February at the Cowra Aquatic Centre. Miss Dunk and Mrs Duncan have been working hard to get everything ready to go for what is sure to be a fun-filled day at the pool! Permission notes were sent home last week and all students are getting into the spirit with House war cries being heard across the school. Parents are encouraged to come along and be part of the day and rumour has it, the CPS Staff Relay team have been doing some early morning training sessions in readiness to take on the parents in the Teachers vs Parents relay! Tomorrow we will be holding our first assemblies for the Term. Our new assembly times are: Infants – 11:30am-12:15pm and Primary – 12:15pm – 1:00pm and these will be held on Friday in Week 2, 6 and 10. Whole school assemblies will also be held on Fridays in Week 4 and Week 8 and these will run from 11:30-12:30pm. The change in day and times has been necessary in order to accommodate our new STEM program. Hope to see you there! Have a great week… Jenny Lewis Principal
