Na’aseh V’nishmah Exodus 19:1-8

• “we agree to do everything even before we have listened”

• this was right after “salvation” They are told to go and wash their clothes (symbolizing baptism)

• Soon they are looking for someTHING to worship instead of the SOMEONE

Page 6: Cow tipping

Ketubah or Marriage contract

• God was creating a covenant first of all with the nation of Israel and in Acts with the Church

Page 7: Cow tipping

Mt Sinai and Pentecost were thePlace of Covenant

TONGUES

• EXODUS: Voice of the Lord thundered in 70 languages. They all heard their language

• Acts-tongues of Fire and all heard the message in their own language

Page 9: Cow tipping

Life and Death

The First Cow Tipping

Page 12: Cow tipping

Golden Calf

• The obvious idols of money, position, comfort, recreation etc

• The more subtle COWS are RELIGION...REJECTION and RELUCTANCE

Page 13: Cow tipping

Religion-hinders the move of the Spirit

• 1. Difficult to detect because it is a “religious spirit” which will always have some aspect of truth at its core, although generally twisted

• Often goes hand in hand with pride

• Will seek to mimic or fit into prevailing culture

Page 14: Cow tipping

Examples of Religion Hindering God’s move

• The Israelites wanted to “practice” their religion in a manner similar to the culture they had just been saved from

• Paul, a pharisee of pharisees knew scripture, was zealous and committed yet did not see the Messiah right in front of him.

Page 15: Cow tipping

RELIGION

• Paul encountered the Lord on the road to Demascus. DE MASK US

• Religion hinders intimacy, it causes us to filter everything through the realm of knowledge not through the Spirit.

• God waived both loaves at Shavuot they represented Spirit and Truth.

Page 16: Cow tipping

Discerning a Religious Cow cow in our Lives

• Romans 10:2 “They have a zeal for God but not according to knowledge of Him”

• Promotes ritual over relationship

• tradition over truth

• Doing over being

Page 17: Cow tipping

Branding Our Cows

• Ask yourself these basic questions...

• Am I offended when something “new” is introduced. Do I defend traditions instead of embracing what God may be doing?

• Do I measure my life or someone else’s by religious activity and banter or am I focused on my heart?

REJECTION COW Judges 6-Gideon

2 And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him, and said to him, “The LORD is with you, you mighty man of valor!”13 Gideon said to Him, “O my lord, if the LORD is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us about, saying, ‘Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the LORD has forsaken us and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.”

• 14 Then the LORD turned to him and said, “Go in this might of yours, and you shall save Israel from the hand of the Midianites. Have I not sent you?” 15 So he said to Him, “O my Lord, how can I save Israel? Indeed my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.”16 And the LORD said to him, “Surely I will be with you, and you shall defeat the Midianites as one man.”17 Then he said to Him, “If now I have found favor in Your sight, then show me a sign that it is You who talk with me. 18 Do not depart from here, I pray, until I come to You and bring out my offering and set it before You.”And He said, “I will wait until you come back.”

Judges 6•

14 Then the LORD turned to him and said, “Go in this might of yours, and you shall save Israel from the hand of the Midianites.

Branding the Rejection Cow

• The focus will be on self and not on obedience to God’s voice

• What if I’m wrong? What if I’m rejected? What will they think?

• All of these paralyze.

Reluctance Cow 2 Kings 13- Joash

• Then he said, “Take the arrows”; so he took them. And he said to the king of Israel, “Strike the ground”; so he struck three times, and stopped. And the man of God was angry with him, and said, “You should have struck five or six times;

Page 22: Cow tipping

• then you would have struck Syria till you had destroyed it! But now you will strike Syria only three times.”

Page 23: Cow tipping

Elisha’s request modeled prophetic Ministry

• Shooting the arrows required effort and aim.

•  Shooting the arrows required instruction and help from the prophet of God

•        Shooting the arrows was ineffective because it was not repeated enough, reflecting a lack of confidence in the process.

•        Shooting the arrows had its strategic moment, and when that moment passed it was gone.

•        Failing to shoot the arrows hurts others, not only our self.

• *Shooting the arrows had to be done through an open window.

•Shooting the arrows had to be done without knowing the exact outcome

•Failing to shoot the arrows hurts others, not only our self.

Reluctance Cow

• Hesitant to move out, even when we recognize God’s voice

• Lack of faith

• Attracted to prophetic but reluctant to walk in authority
