My Experience

• I wanted to give more details around the events of Covid-19 and how it has changed the world so drastically. I decided to do this in a creative and unique way. Sharing a story by the use of an acrostic poem. I will give a word or phrase from “COVID” and share an experience or story through it.

COVID-19

• “Corona virus” I first heard this term back In early 2020 on a social media platform. At this time, I thought this virus presented no threat to anyone. I thought it was an event that would come and go, the virus was only in China at the time and I believed it wouldn’t spread here to the United States. A few weeks go by and China is creating hospitals overnight and having mass quarantines. They are spraying the streets with chemicals trying to eliminate the virus. This is when I realized the impact the virus had. As the U.S. became aware of the potential disaster, we shut down our borders and banned travel. A few confirmed cases inside the U.S. and lockdowns soon followed. Life hasn’t been the same since.

COVID-19

• “Obstacles” A true crisis was in the making. The world hasn’t seen such a large scale pandemic in decades. How was the U.S. and other countries going to respond to all the troubling obstacles that lay ahead as well as each individual citizen. Jobs were lost, grocery stores were wiped empty, sanitization products vanished, and a sense of overwhelming fear plagued the world. The world was in a panic to contain a virus, in which we knew little about.

COVID-19

• “Vacant” Schools, restaurants, gyms, businesses, sporting arenas, and much more all closed down overnight. Majority of people had to stay at home and the world seemed empty, so vacant. It was if everyone had vanished, there was little signs of life in some areas. This was truly the hardest part, seeing what once was a part of everyday was striped from us.

COVID-19“International” As each country was hit different, the world to isolate themselves from others. Traveling was banned, borders were closed, and immigration came to a halt. Each country had to depend on themselves more than ever. People had to focus on making their own country as the primary focus.

COVID-19

• “Deaths” As of November, 20th 2020 the world as seen 57,873,147 cases, 1,376,597 deaths and 40,06,102 recoveries. In the U.S. alone we 11.9 million cases and 253k total deaths. As we are months removed from the initial lockdown, cases are being reported at all time highs. I wonder if another lockdown is in the future. The good news is that we may be a few months away from a vaccine.
