2012 Thanksgiving Feast November 12, 2012
Small cheer and great welcome makes a merry feast.
- William Shakespeare
Thank you to all the parents and staff of Erickson School for collaborating to make our
Thanksgiving Feast a success. Your spirit of volunteerism has been a gift for all of our chil-
dren as well as our community.
A special thank you to Dr. Markgraf, Mrs. Johnston, Mrs. Cherrie, Miss Motto, Dr.
Niemiec, Mrs. Noran, as well as all the teachers and staff that helped the students with their
contributions to the feast.
Our students have been working hard using their creativity and talents to make our feast spe-
cial. Thank you to Kindergarten and 1st grade for making our colorful placemats, 2nd grade
for their wonderful singing, 3rd grade for the lovely centerpieces, 4th grade for the decorative
banners, and 5th grade for the thoughtful thank you notes. We also want to thank the Stu-
dents for Character Counts for their spirited performance, Student Council for organizing
the paper product and food drive to benefit the Bloomingdale Food Pantry, and all of the
Erickson community for the book donations. All books that are collected will be donated to
Indian Reservations that are in great need of books.
We would also like to welcome and thank our community members who have come to share the
day with us. Your presence makes this Thanksgiving Feast memorable.

The History of the
THANKSGIVING
FEAST 2012 ERICKSON ELEMENTARY
By: Alec
Grade 2
Do you know the Thanksgiving history of Erickson Elementary school? It
started out in 1996, it was Dr. Markgraf, Mrs. Hager and Mrs. Fielder’s idea.
The reason why we celebrate Thanksgiving at Erickson is because we want a
sense of community in the school. We serve turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing,
corn and cranberries. This year, the Thanksgiving Feast is on November 12th.
The students do performances. Second grade sings, third grade makes corn
displays for the center pieces. Kids for Character does the shuffle. The other
grades do student magazines and student council does the book drive and food
drive. I hope you have a happy 17th Thanksgiving feast at Erickson!

Turkeys, Thanksgiving Turkeys, turkeys so fun. Thanksgiving so much food. Get some turkeys, cook them. Thanksgiving have potatoes, and Turkeys, and corn, and cookies. By Garrett Grade 4 Tom Turkey Once upon a time there was a turkey named Tom. Tom was a kind Turkey who had many friends. All of Tom’s turkey friends would come out to play fun games like pin the leg on the turkey but he wasn’t very good at the game. His friend Bob was the one who always won the games because he was thin and fast. Tom would love to eat the food the turkeys were given and got very plump. Since Tom was the most plump turkey, he was the one eve-ryone wanted and on Thanksgiving Day, Tom was the one on the dinner plate with stuffing in him. Tom was a very yummy turkey. By Kailey Grade 3

In Fall I see lime, rust, cocoa, and golden leaves mixing and blending with dusky squirrels. I smell the strong, sweat fragrance of thanksgiving dinner. I taste the delicious hot cocoa and the amazing mouth- watering thanksgiving feast. I feel the hot touch of the hot cocoa and the cold-ness of the breeze of the wind.
